W.A.S.P. CANCEL US TOUR; WE CALL “BULLSHIT”

W.A.S.P.According to a post on their website this morning, W.A.S.P have canceled their 24 date US tour scheduled to kick off July 11 at West Hollywood’s Key Club. The band claims that their North American label losing distribution is the reason for the cancellation; I call bullshit. While their North American label may have in fact lost distribution (no word yet on whether this is true or not), this is most certainly not the reason for the tour cancellation. Nobody is counting on W.A.S.P.’s latest record to drive ticket sales on the tour; people aren’t going to see a band like this to hear the new songs, they’re going to hear all the hits. The more likely culprit was poor ticket sales. Promoters were probably getting antsy when tickets weren’t selling for the 1000 to 1500-capacity clubs W.A.S.P. were scheduled to play, and the band and heir management collectively decided to pull the plug to avoid embarrassment.

No word yet on whether W.A.S.P. will still be playing the massive Rocklahoma Festival in July.

Their time has passed. Out with the old and in with the new. Wasp is wasting valuable space.

I’m sure it has nothing to do with the 1000 pound mic stand Blackie was toting around with him last tour……

Too bad- I talked to the Alabama Thunderpussy guys and they were gonna go out with’m. Would love for any one new see ATP. Then again they’re also supposed to go out with Obituary! Can’t fault those guys for wanting to play with bands outside their circle.

First of all… RE: WASP canceling their US tour dates several years ago….People shouldn’t speculate and make posts regarding things they know nothing about. it could have been any number of reasons, none of which put the slightest blemish on the talent of Blackie Lawless.
Second…WASP’s time has NOT passed. They are still very big overseas, and they still have a ton of fans here in the US as well, and word is they will be touring here early 2010 to promote their new album.. They are just as good today as they were 30 years ago, and you can’t say that about many other band. Every album they have put out has been awesome. Their new album Babylon Rocks just as hard as their older albums in the 80′s and 90′s. Blackie still puts on a great performance, and the fans love him….. Their time is far from passed.
And about the Mic Stand… Yea, it weighs a lot, and maybe sometimes their was a conflict with him being able to have it at certain locations, but its unique and original, and I think thats awesome.
