[...] Tennessee hard-rockers The Showdown have released a 3-song digital-only EP, following their excellent record Temptation Come My Way (read our 4 out of 5 horns review). The songs, like those on the full-length, are some sort of driving hard-rock hybrid combining the balls of Appetite-era GN’R guitars, Dr. Feelgood-era Crue crunch, and Out of the Cellar-era Ratt leads, wrapped together in a southern rock package. What’s even more amazing than the fact that this record exists in 2007 and is so well executed is how young these dudes are. Clearly it matters not, for it kicks total ass, as do these three new songs. The three tracks are available for purchase on the band’s MySpace page. [...]

I have DP's first two albums. They didn't abandon the rap thing because they never did the rap thing. They have always been a straight-ahead modern hard rock/metal band. RIP Dave Williams.
