AILD have definitely progressed and matured as a band, especially on the guitars fronts. There are some great solo pieces on the new album, and it is less formational and predictable than Shadows. In a genre when you can't rally bring something new to the table, AILD are doing the best they can and they do it with style and passion. I do miss Clint's voice a bit but Josh is doing a good job none the less. Have another listen. I don’t agree. AILD have definitely progressed and matured as a band, especially on the guitars fronts. I'm fairly confident this will be the album of the year in my books! It was just what this rather uneventful year (musically) needed, as far as I'm concerned. I don't think I'm the only one either who really enjoys the new bassist's vocals. I guess to each his own, for me this is a 5/5 album for sure though. I think I would like ALOL's Iron Gag more if I wanted to hear a new Black Label Society album... which I do not want to do. It's not a bad record, but I doubt it'll make my regular rotation.
