MASTODON GUITARIST HOSPITALIZED WITH “SEVERE HEAD INJURY”

Lambgoat is reporting that Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds was jumped after the band’s performance at Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas, and is currently in the hospital with a severe head injury. A rumor was first posted on Stonerrock.com by a concerned witness on Monday evening, but apparently Mastodon’s management has now confirmed the story.
I kind of want to make a joke about Hinds’ odd tattoo of some sort of stitching on his noggin, but I think that would be in poor taste, even for us. Speedy recovery to Brent.

It’s a shame, Brent seems like a really cool guy. Mastadon is a great band. He seems tough and I’m sure he’ll make a quick and full recovery.
Unfotunately, this is all too common when a lone metal head wanders into enemy territory. MTV is all enemy territory. I’m sure his presense alone got a lot of unwanted attention. Add that to being outnumbered 10 to 1 and the unfortunate result is a hospital visit. Can’t have a good time and get wasted around enemy swine who are waiting to strike you at your weakest.
