DO THE METAL METS HAVE THE GRIT TO MAKE IT?

The Metal Mets have been decidedly un-metal lately. They fail in the clutch. They always come up short. They blow big leads like it’s their job to go down on Jimmy Rollins. This team is pathetic, and you have to ask the question; even if they do survive what would otherwise be a monumental collapse, does this team have the grit to make it far in the playoffs?
You can’t blame Willie — he’s working with what he’s got. It’s not his fault that his bullpen sucks a big fat bag of dicks. When he goes to Guillermo “I Suck Balls” Mota, he hasn’t got a choice. Who else is he gonna put in, Scott Schoensuck? Aaron Suckman? Inconsistency has been the only consistent thing on this team of late. That, and Moises Alou. But one 41 year-old outfielder can’t do it all himself.
Now, the Phillies, there’s a team with heart. They come back late in games and never give up. Their bullpen, shaky all year, has somehow managed to find a way and get the job done in September, when it matters most. They don’t give up 30+ runs in a 3-game series and get swept by a last place team, because they know this is it, that they’ve got to do it NOW. And, like good baseball teams do, they get the job done.
With Pedro on the mound tonight we’ve got a shot. The team plays better when Pedro is going. Let’s get a solid 7 out of Pedro and put up some runs, so even our bullpen can’t falter. Ya Gotta Believe.

I’m a Padres fan, and right now, with only four games yet to play, we don’t have one NL team who’s clinched a playoff spot. Greatest pennant/wild card races ever. Five teams all within TWO games of each other. Fucking amazing.

Fuck the Mets. Fuck the Yankees. Fuck the Red Sox. Fuck the Northeast. If I have to see one more Yankees/Sox game on national TV when there are legitimate pennant races in the NL, I’m going to send a planeful of explosives into Bristol, CT.
Wait a sec. Metal Mets? Metal Mets went out the window when Piazza left. Nobody on this team like rock, much less metal. And what the fuck kind of music is David Wright coming up to bat to? I think it’s called shit, or double play – not sure. Lo Duca playing his Beasties ‘No Sleep Till Brooklyn’ is way played out. The fucking guy lived in Brooklyn for like 2 days. Enough already. As for the other guys on the team, I have no fucking clue. If there was any metal Mets they would have showed up tonight. Yeah Ive been drinking. So fucking what.
Congratulations to the Mets….no other team has had a 7 game lead with 17 to play and not finished in first…this team sucks like nickleback…
I guess all that money can’t buy heart. Go Padres.
I take comfort in the Phillies mailing in 3 playoff games.
