MAYNARD IS “QUEEN B”
Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007 at 9:16am by Axl Rosenberg
The first single from Maynard James Keenan’s forever-in-the-works Puscifer project, “Queen B,” is avail for streaming here. I don’t have Windows Media where I am and Maynard is apparently the last musician in the world to have never heard of MySpace, so I can’t comment on the song itself – Keenan has promised that Puscifer will be more in the vein of good ol’ fashioned rock n’ roll than Tool or APC, but it’s tough for me to imagine Maynard’s voice on anything that doesn’t sound at least kinda like Tool. For now, I’m gonna pretend I’m temporarily deaf and ask all of you to try and describe the song to me. And remember: be descriptive.
Pusicfer’s debut album, V is for Vagina, drops at the end of the month. That sound you hear is our own Vince Neilstein jerking himself off with frantic anticipation.

Sounds like old ZZtop vocals over trendy LA club music. I can see this being in some hollywood movies.
Damn ERik, you nailed it. I can’t figure out a better way to describe this song, other than “pile of crap”.
This song makes me want to pimp my ride. Literally.
there’s a video, too …

oh cmon! it aint bad..but i xpected better..grt groooooooove
It doesn’t sound at all like Tool or APC. Maybe that’s why it sucks hairy balls.
Um…wow. Kind of disappointing and it really does suck :/. A LOT.
The song on the Underworld Evolution soundtrack raped this pathetic excuse for music. Gotta love how the better part of the song is Maynard repeating lyrics(really badly written lyrics at that) over the same music over and over again.
If this is his new main focus then he might as well round up his like minded friends in Hellyeah (bleh) and go on tour with Korn.
Oh how the mighty have fallen.
Sounds like the Butthole Surfers, after they stopped being scary and went disco, doing a cover of the Sopranos theme.
They do have a myspace page which also has Queen B on it at…
Puscifer
I dunno. Based on first listen, it’s okay. Too bad there’s not a Danny-Adam-Justin side project to listen to instead.
Okay, I’m going to cross the line of professionalism here just for a moment to try to simulate how I feel.
THAT SONG FUCKIN’ BLOWS.
What the fuck is wrong with some people?
What is so difficult about being a part of an amazing band like TOOL that can make the FRONTMAN so unsatisfied that he has to KEEP DOING SIDE PROJECTS?
For fucks sake man, grow the fuck up and sing for TOOL.
I don’t know if this falls on deaf ears right now, but TOOLS latest stuff seems to be more and more soft and not enough edge. I love tool, but the progression of their music is getting slower and less hard.
Now we can see why that is happening. With THIS being what the frontman of TOOL really finds to be his own thing… I’m surprized they can be as creative as they are. I guess it really is all the bass and drums…..
Hey Danny, I’ve got a band for ya!
Anyway, thats my comment on this pre-coffee.
[...] guys are all taking Maynard’s side project Puscifer WAY too seriously. Guys: it’s a side project. Side projects are meant to be outlets for the [...]
I like it. It does sound a lot like ZZ Top in their electronic period, with updated electronics, but hey, I like ZZ Top in their electronic period.
Yo!!! the song is good!!!! it is not TOOL or APC and i think thats why people say it sucks, and besides maynard said so himself; this is just a side project where he can put out all the weird crap that is in his head that does not belong in any of his other bands, so just enjoy it this is not music that we have to analyze like tool’s.
This stuff is just as amazing as tool or apc. Just in a different way, i love this shit
[...] is kind of old hat already, but seeing as how you kids got all riled up about the Maynard James Keenan-fronted Puscifer, we figured you might like to go and have a listen [...]
Apparantly some people aren’t happy unless the hear the same stuff over and over again. Also it appears that they need their art spoon-fed to them. What is the point of creating art you already created. Moving forward people, trying new things. I think this music isn’t tool, therefore isn’t being graded on a tool curve. It has a unique cool sound to it. It also in my opinion is a great display of Maynard’s witty sense of humor. In closing…listen or turn it off, but don’t say it sucks just because it is different from what most of you have ever heard. Tool is for tool, apc for apc and this is something entirely different. I see no problem having another flavor in the fridge.
Ok, so I TOOL is my favorite band, and I do like most of Puscifer’s songs. If I wanted to listen to something that sounded like Tool, I’d LISTEN to Tool. Kinda a funky-rock-a-billy sound to it. Personally, it’s way better than APC and my feelings on the new album is…yeah, it went a little more mellow, but if you know the meanings of a few of the songs, you’d understand why. If you don’t know what 10,000 days “means”, then you should research it.
As Maynard said “Puscifer is the playground for the voices in my head”.
Cmon it’s not too bad. I like it. You may think it sucks… but your still talking about it!
crap
The crap that stole our hearts.
