EAT MAYNARD’S PUSCIFER

Thursday, October 4th, 2007 at 9:54am by

You guys are all taking Maynard’s side project Puscifer WAY too seriously. Guys: it’s a side project. Side projects are meant to be outlets for the band members’ other musical desires, so they can get their willies out through their side projects and not have these other influences muck up their main band. It’s shit like this that just proves how creative and diverse Maynard is. What’s more, Tool is STILL TOURING after a year and a half on this record, multiple times around the world. So will you people shut the fuck up already? Thank you. Somewhere Maynard is laughing at all of you because his humor has sailed WAY over your heads, you stupid fucks. You’re the same people who tell Axl and me when we hand out MetalSucks stickers at shows, “But dude, I love metal!”

ANYWAY… Here’s the video for Puscifer’s “Queen B,” which further proves that the whole project is at least partially tongue in cheek.

good song, cool video, i’m pleasantly suprised

  • Wayne

Yes, Vince, it IS important to not take things to seriously. Good note. :)
It’s not that we don’t “get” the project (honestly, what’s to get, anyway?), it’s just that many of us don’t care for it.

    Sincerely,
One of your “stupid fuck” readers who can’t shut up even though it’s a goddamn comment section.

We love you, Wayne! Hugs and kisses.

  • Wayne

    hahahahahahaaaaaa

I love you guys, too, Vince. Sorry, that was a little cranky, eh? hahahaaa
    Mea culpa.

  • Kye

Hmmmmm, ya see it’s not so much that I hate things unmetal as I hate shitty songs. All the other Puscifer tracks I’ve heard(as in the ones on soundtracks) were pretty damn good, this one just sucks tho. It’s fucking boring.

  • Wayne

Cuntry Boner (at least the old YouTube version) is fucking awesome. I love that tune to death.

  • Amanda

Yeah, it’s like Kye said. I love all the other Pusicfer songs. That’s actually how I got to like Tool. This song just doesn’t hold/interest me that much.

Uh no, douchetard. Some of this don’t want another Tool or APC. That would be a stupid side project – to play the same music. No, some of us think it sucks because it sucks. It’s a boring, repetitive song (which ironically, IS much like Tool).

  • Mike D

The bias on here is hilarious…

Godsmack sucks – but because some dope in Tool is doing a side project that ABSOLUTELY BLOWS MONKEY BALLS it’s meant to be taken as a joke..hahaha…look at the rich rock star with too much time on his hand make shit music!! OMG!! SO FUNNY!

Get a clue. Pusicfer sucks, and it’s only liked by some because of the Tool connection. Dorks.

  • Wayne

Come on, Mike. Regardless of wether it works or not, Puscifer is being presented with a tongue in cheek. And if it sucks for some, fine, it’s a lark side project and he’ll back with Tool soon enough, and yes, obviously the Tool connection brings people to Puscifer. And……..?

But Godsmack……come on. surely you can see how these guys would be an easy target, don’t you?

OH, and can we please as a culture make progress in retiring the old “look at that evil rich rock star in his treehouse i’m not allowed into” style of criticism, eh? You don’t like him, cool. No one’s got a fuckin’ gun to your head. But surely you can’t fault a man for making uncompromising music on his terms for years in various projects where usual music business rules were adhered to or discarded as he saw fit….and then got rich off it, would you?

    God this weed is good.

    Where was I? Oh right:

    Godsmack = dorks

Sully – excellent drummer, good rock singer, guitarist, harmonica player, piano on unplugged tour, writes all of the lyrics, good stage presence, repetitive songs, kicks ass live, little man mentality.

Maynard – excellent lyricist, good singer, limited in other areas, stands in back of stage, hasn’t been relevant in the studio since the 90s, kicks ass live, probably has fucked men.

    Touche Mike D. Touche.

  • TedTedPoleyPoley

it’s just a matter of time then before someone will videotape Sully Erna signing autographs while calling his guitar player an asshole and wishing him to just fucking die!?

  • Wayne

Mike. Listen to Tool’s “Lateralus” album if you haven’t before. Released in 2001. An essential album. Totally relevant. Not the 90s. Maynard is awesome on this album.

But that’s a decent look at both frontmen. I rag on Godsmack, but I’ll admit, they surprised me with their live show when they opened for Metallica. Very entertaining.

  • Mike D

I wanted to like Lateralus – I loved everything before it…

Couldn’t get into more than 2-3 songs. Same with 10,000 Days.

  • Wayne

Well, those last two records are ones that have lots of mixed opinions, I guess. I think alot of 10,000 Days doesn’t really work until you see it live.

  • jay

I saw 10,000 days last july, and I got to say it was amazing. Listened to all their albums. From opiate to 10,000 days, the music is completely different, obviously. But songs aren’t ment to be followed by the same goup of people, they are inspiring to those who really listen and feel the music. My main point is, people grow and so does music. I guess it only shows musicians have personalitys outside running their winery, side projects, and main bands, I mean their lives as well.
