BEFORE THEY WERE METAL: Norma Jean

A new column in which we examine a metal band with some skeletons in its closet. In our inaugural edition, we listen to a young band now known as Norma Jean…

So, what? You thought Pantera were the only ones? This video comes from the days when Norma Jean were known as “Luti-Kriss.” The vocals are actually not really nu-metal at all, but, by GOD, the music… can you say “Loco?”

Norma Jean’s first record (as Norma Jean) is pretty fucking sweet.

By far, the worst thing about this is the name. I was raging to the track honestly.

This is actually a lot better than new norma jean. Scogin hadn’t hit his peak vocally, but this is not bad music. Have you LISTENED to new norma jean? THAT, my friend, is not metal.
