NEW AVENGED SEVENFOLD VIDEO INTERVIEW; M. SHADOWS THE MENSA MEMBER

Monday, October 15th, 2007 at 12:10pm by

This recent interview (courtesy of Melissa Smith of Prime Video Magazine) with M. Shadows (vocals) and Synyster Gates (guitar) of Avenged Sevenfold proves what anyone who has seen/heard interview footage of M. Shadows already knew: M. Shadows is kind of an idiot. The guy may be a sick performer and talented vocalist — hell, I’ll even give a nod to his abilities as a producer of both the Confession and his own band — but just listen to the guy talk, and Einstein he ain’t. Let’s just say that it isn’t a stretch to figure out why this guy actually thinks our troops are fighting for American freedom in Iraq and that there actually is an Iraq/9-11/Bin Laden connection.

Avenged Sevenfold will be released October 30th on Warner Bros. Records. Visit Avenged Sevenfold on MySpace to hear the new single “Almost Easy.”

Interviews with rockstars are so boring. Insert generic “awesome” statement here, this is our best cd yet, come see us on tour, This is our most diverse record, blah blah blah. I’m sorry, I’m convinced that AX7 had nothing to do with city of evil, but play. The great cd City of Evil was a fluke and I’m very skeptical of their upcoming release. Illegal downloading all the way.

  • Wayne

Fantastic. I’m glad this guy is spouting backasswards politial views for impressionable youths to pick up on.

Good point about interviews ERiK. Our Metal Sucks friends should compile a list of the rare good interview subjects.

The samples I’ve heard off the new cd destory City of Evil(I still like Waking the Fallen the best tho), so I’m pretty excited.

For once tho, I’d love to hear a band just say “Hey we did our best and hope people like the cd” rather than “IT’S THE BEST EVER”.

On another plus note, it doesn’t look like they’re wearing their stupid ass grills.

I dunno. It’s no different than 99% of all rock musician interviews. No more or less “idiotic”. Just watch any Pantera interview from the past 12 years. Or Sebeastian Bach. Or try to listen to the Nuge talk for more than 30 seconds without getting an ice cream headache. Now, the bimbo giving the interview – what middle school newspaper does she write for?

He looks like an idiot, but I think he did a pretty good job providing answers to those rather typical interview questions. Pretty good explanation for self-titling the album…

Again: that mohawk REALLY sucks. Anyway, I’m looking forward for the new album, ‘cuz A7X rocks.

  • Wayne

Good call, Sammy. The Nuge is torture to listen to. Hmm…ya think he’ll use hunting as a clunky metaphor at some point?

  • Factor

Did Syn disagree with M. when he said it’s their best cd? I’ve heard the new one and it’s solid. I need to spin it more before I say it’s better than City of Evil; that will be hard to beat.

  • TTquick

Sammy knows whats up. Always on point. Good stuff.

Metal is about saying FU—so FU to your so called music / metal snobbery and your pacifisct views.

in regards to the main article. dude, you suck. what is it with liberal shits who bash on the war for no good reason other than it’s the popular thing to do? “world peace, world peace! let’s just leave the towelheads alone and show them what a pushover we all are!” yeah, the new album kicks major ass, not sure if it beats City of Evil, but it comes damn close.

  • Nikki

Well, I have loved all of A7X’s albums. They have all kicked ass. I am a huge fan, and this article is fucking stupid. For one thing, the interviewer pisses me off. There is nothing more annoying than sending someone to interview a band when it’s obvious that they have never LISTENED to any of their stuff, and have written questions based off of things they read on Wikipedia. For another thing, the comment about Matt thinking that ‘our troops are fighting for American freedom in Iraq’ was completely not true. If you actually listened to a band that you’re bashing, you would know that in the song ‘Lost’ there is actually a lyric that says; “Centuries pass, and still the same; War in our blood, some things never change.” and goes on to say, “fighting for land, and personal gain.” Neither of which sound like ‘American freedom’ or ‘Catching Bin Laden’. The reason Matt cares about the troops is not because of WHY they are fighting, but because they ARE fighting. He’s not some fan of the war, but he has respect for people who put their lives on the line. So, maybe do some better research before you start insulting, or is that too much to ask? I am a liberal, but I agree that talking shit about the troops is fucked up, no matter how much you dislike war.
