THIS WEEK’S SOUNDSCAN CHARTS REVEALED
Wednesday, October 24th, 2007 at 12:51pm by Vince NeilsteinKid Rock maintained strong sales this week, despite dropping one slot to #2. Jimmy Eat World and Santana (albeit a Greatest Hits) had Top 10 debuts, while the first two parts of Thrice’s ambitious Alchemy Index suite had a solid debut as well. In other notables, Finger Eleven managed to move up the chart again after it finally seemed to be losing steam, and Hinder jumped 64 spots to #102, giving us ojita.
Chart positions and sales numbers after the jump.
#2: Kid Rock – Rock N’ Roll Jesus
This Week: 77,004
Cume: 249,816
Kid Rock is going to sell units. No surprise here. The stupidity of middle America continues to astound me.
#5: Jimmy Eat World – Chase This Light
This Week: 62,267 (debut)
I actually really liked this band’s Bleed American album. Haven’t paid much attention since, though.
#8: Santana – Ultimate Santana
This Week: 56,475 (debut)
Santana’s kinda metal, right?
#18: Nickelback – All the Right Reasons
This Week: 32,846
Cume: 6,096,430
#22: Foo Fighters – Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace
This Week: 29,669
Cume: 293,918
This record is doing well. Sure, it’s dropped a few spots each week, but the fact that it’s still #22 after 4 weeks is impressive after watching acts like Atreyu sink faster than a lead anchor after decent debuts.
#24: Thrice – The Alchemy Index, Vol. I & II
This Week: 27,811 (debut)
A good debut. Probably the biggest that Vagrant has had all year this side of Dashboard Confessional.
#35: Linkin Park – Minutes to Midnight
This Week: 20,219
Cume: 1,800,465
#37: Alter Bridge – Blackbird
This Week: 18,641
Cume: 65,660
#61: Eddie Vedder – Music for the Motion Picture Into the Wild
This Week: 12,884
Cume: 95,337
Yup, that’s right, Eddie Fuckin’ Vedder wrote a soundtrack. And it’s doing well. I’m stumped too.
#2: Puddle of Mudd – Famous
This Week: 12,726
Cume: 44,002
Famous for what, sucking Fred Durst’s cock to get a record deal?
#68: Metalocalypse: Dethklok – Dethalbum
This Week: 11936
Cume: 70231
#82: Finger Eleven – Them Vs. You Vs. Me
This Week: 9,677
Cume: 248,292
Jumped up AGAIN, this time 13 spots! This record has got to be the biggest surprise of the year. The Buckcherry of ‘07 for sure.
#94: Three Days Grace – One-X
This Week: 8,226
Cume: 931,396

That Eddie Vedder soundtrack is really good, fits the movie perfectly. I’m probably going to get flamed for loving Pearl Jam, so i’ll leave it at that.
Also not metal, but the #1 is Springsteen’s latest, which is one excellent album.
Jimmy eat worlds new album kinda sucks last 1 was way better but Bleed American will always be thier best record
Vince u & Axl really need to listen to Blackbird ASAP
