CANDLEBOX SET TO RECORD A NEW ALBUM NO ONE WILL CARE ABOUT
Thursday, November 8th, 2007 at 9:39am by Vince Neilstein
The reunited post-grunge / feaux-alternative rock band Candlebox will enter the studio in December to begin work on their fourth studio album, according to a report on Blabbermouth. Original members Kevin Martin, Peter Klett and Scott Mercado will announce a new bass player soon, and the record is tentatively scheduled for a Spring 2008 release. As reported on MetalSucks back in June, the band has two new songs on their MySpace page; both are expected to be on the album.
Now don’t get me wrong, I love “Far Behind” as much as the next guy, but is anyone outside of a small group of hardcore fans who still wear flannel around their waists going to care about a new Candlebox record? Was anyone really a FAN of this band in the first place, or did they just like the singles? It’s really hard to imagine a new Candlebox song catching on in any sort of significant way barring a bonafide smash hit or a complete 180, and the new material posted thus far suggests neither. This strikes me simply as a platform for the band to get a record label to spend money marketing a tour — which begs the question, how many people will go see a Candlebox tour?
Personally, I’m holding out hope for the SevenMarySpongeDoctorsBox 2008 Summer package tour, coming to a shed near you.

hahahahahahahahaaaaaaaa…..Candlebox. Can we get Collective Soul on that Monsters of Vanilla tour, too?
I’m still down with the Doc. Martens.
Now, if you had reported that My Sister’s Machine was reuniting, I’m interested!
I think i hate this band more then Avenged Sevenfold
Retro, do you have to work in Avenged Sevenfold everywhere??
Nah, i just did it as flame bait. Although it is true, I do dislike Candlebox more.
Candlebox is fucking amazing. Figureheads of the Grunge movement. I’m on that record like flies to shit.
Candlebox?!?!? aren’t they the proto-silverchair band?
they’ve toured twice in the past two years, with a vast majority of the shows being sold out. they did that 100% on their own. no label funding or support.
they must be doing something right.
for jackasses like you that STILL love to hate them so much that you have to write about it publicly, 14 years later…again…they must be doing something right.
Are u fu@*ing kiddin me? Kevin Martin is a lyrical genius with a voice I have yet to hear anything like, his voice and talent sends chills down my body, the entire Candlebox self-titled album is superb, they NEVER claimed to be grunge , nor where flannel, I know the band, they just want to be known as a “Rock n Roll” band, not heavy netal, nor grunge- they are great to their fans and he knows how to wail out his lyrics to get his point across. I think this band got under-rated cause they came out at the end of the grunge era. Till this day I can rock to there old albums and to Kevin Martin & the Hiwatts- (his LA based band). Have a little heart for a great band that at least writes there own songs!!!
…just saw the concert and bought the album. the album is amazing. kevin martin has the voice of an angry angel. beautiful.
These guys are so damn good!! There isn’t a throw-away song on the first album. Such a shame people never got into them. Just like Fireball Ministry and Badlands…two more great bands that never got airplay. :(
What an ignorant, narrow minded post. Candlebox are an amazing band. Anyone who simply dismisses them because they had only one hit is missing out on great music.
I never heard of this candelbox band till I seen them listed to headline the easyriders motorcycle tour this year. So far I’ve only heard like 2 good song by them. Guess I’ll be doing other things at the motocycle rally other than watching candlebox
Hahaha… Great comments here. I always thought Candleschlox were the first wannabe bastard children of the Seattle scene. Each one progressively worse than the next with Creed (BLARG) being the end product of the most severely disfigured fucktard birth defected wannabe grunge gene pool. Now, if Mark Lanegan and the Screaming Trees ever decided to reunite and tour, I’d give my ballsack to see ‘em.
