CAN WE PLEASE GET A LITTLE MORE QUEENSRYCHE UP IN THE HOUSE?
Thursday, November 15th, 2007 at 11:16am by Vince NeilsteinSeriously, people ought to talk about this band in the same breath as Dream Theater instead of Warrant. As guest MTV-host Jani Lane (I think?) says himself in the intro to this video of “Empire,” Queensryche are “the thinking man’s metal band.” If Scott Rockenfeld’s cymbals hanging from chains doesn’t scream “thinking man’s metal,” maybe Chris DeGarmo’s neon-yellow, -orange and -pink guitar will do it for you. Please please PLEASE remind me that I need to go see these guys again next time they pass through town.

saw the Queen this past september with heaven+hell, alice cooper, shadows fall etc @ locobazooka (dumbest. name. ever.) they were alright, but not as good as the all-pirate band, Swashbuckle!
I saw these guys a while back (with Type 0 Negative), they were fantastic! The singer has an awesome voice.
Saw them years ago with Dream Theater in a hockey arena in Barrie, Ontario. Having never really listened to them I was expecting nothing but they were quite excellent. They joined Dream Theater on stage for the encore and played a Who cover… unexpected, but awesome.
One of the most talented bands top to bottom of the past 25 years. I first heard these guys in 1984, when I got the EP cassette from somewhere. I just wish they didn’t have that precipitous dip in songwriting quality following Empire. Of course, when Operation: Mindcrime is in your discography, pretty much anything will be inferior. That masterpiece is a true “Desert Island 5″ recording. Hear in the Now Frontier: um, not so.
Checking these guys out (with Acoustic Don Dokken opening!!!) in February for the first time.
CANNOT….FUCKING….WAIT
Ironically, it was Don Dokken that was the worse thing about Dokken (the band). Every cool intro riff written by Lynch was ruined by the over reverbed, over echoed vocals of Dokken. ugh.
@ Sammy: Don’t get me wrong. Those !!!s were not ones of sincere enthusiasm. I agree…Lynch was the best part of that group.
That’s fucking awesome, Vince. Queensryche fans unite.
Oh, and Operation: Mindcrime still rules.
Wayne, many apologies. Written words lack the body language and vocal tones. I misread.
A few weeks ago VH1 classic played operation livecrime front to back. Awesome. Except for Tate’s shoes. WTF?
Best concert ever….Queensryche with Suicidal tendencies!!! They played mindcrime from front to back – would have been a psychadelic experience even without the shrooms!!

you just made me feel old, one of the best shows I have ever seen.
