Not every band loses touch on their 6th album... What about Therion, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Judas Priest, Exodus (Although their sixth album was a long time after their first...)... I could probably dig up dozens of others. And then there are bands that have pretty much been consistent when it comes to kicking asses. Goatwhore, Enslaved, Vader, Malevolent Creation (Except their album Stillborn), Nile.... just to name a few. And just because someone has been blasting out brutal albums for decades doesn't mean that they are incapable of a masterpiece late in their career. Just look at Bloodbath's second album, Nightmares Made Flesh, which features Dan Swanö on guitars and Peter Tägtren on vocals... Just the song "Eaten" alone not only puts my dick in the dirt, it buries me six feet under. I hope Lamb of God keeps it brutal. I hope they go heavier, and more technical, and only experiment with progression, and not in the way that Avenged Sevenfold does... Arrrrgh, why people like A7X is beyond me. If that thing about 6th albums sucking is true, expect the 6th album of A7X to be in the vein of Amy Winehouse meets Usher. You can't get any worse than that. Bah.

Sounds like they are taking some much deserved and probably needed time off. Maybe take a few months to get with family and friends, re-acquaint with the things in life that really matter, and give them some more things to write about. Oh, and I say all of that with the thought that they'll probably at least begin writing the new album next year, which means they'll be working in band form in some capacity. Could be wrong though... The fact that they say they’ll have a new album out in 09 doesn’t sound like a hiatus to me.
