AUDIO OF THE NEW ANTHRAX SINGER SURFACES!

… and we’ve got it for ya. Anthrax officially announced via an online chat with fan club members last night that Dan Nelson will handle vocals on Anthrax’s forthcoming album. Audio of Nelson with his old band Devilsize has surfaced, but we’re not sure when this is from. The audio quality isn’t great and the band is, uh, way less than great, but it at least gives us an idea of what the guy sounds like. While I’m not sure I’m sold yet on Scott Ian’s claim that his voice is “Like John Bush on steroids,” I’m at least happy they recognized that they needed someone that had balls, someone that could sing Bush-era material. Belladonna? Please. Dude could sing but he doesn’t fit modern Anthrax, at all. Just based on this shitty demo I’m willing to give Dan Nelson a shot to be awesome.
Also, how cool is it that the members of Anthrax got in a friggin’ online chat room with their fans to make the announcement, instead of a lame press release?

Sounds pretty promising to me. A step in the right direction in my opinion.
I cant wait to hear him do Safe Home I think he may be able to make it sound better and I didnt think that was possible! NOT!
Guy sounds good. Unfortunately, it’s all about the songwriting. We’ll see what Ian and company have left in them.
Ok, so here is my problem with Anthrax. In the 80s they had great thrash riffs but the vocals were too…Journey. So in the 90s they dump the Journey vocals and get good classic thrash vocals. And for 1 album (Sound of White Noise) it was great. Then the thrash riffs started to slide into post-thrash…I bought Stomp 442 when it first came out and I didn’t really care for it. There was too many filler riffs and songs in that one. I don’t know about The Threat Is Real or We’ve Come For You All, only that both albums were a “return to the old school” according to Scott Ian but ended up a return to the old in a Megadeth sort of way. You know, Dave has been comparing every Megadeth album since Youthanasia to Peace Sells and Rust in Peace. I guess Peace Sells sells albums. Hah.
Anyways, I hope that they have good riffs, good solos, good songs and good vocals. I really do.
“Journey” vocals, H? Steve Perry yelled about 1/2 pitch out of key?
Actually, if you were listening to old Anthrax at the time (not now with 25 years of new musical styles invented in between), it was great thrash metal. Of course today there is way too much to compare it to and it comes out dated, much like most of today’s power metal does.
Metal is back! Anthrax is back! And Dan is here! Cant wait to hear the first album and Dan live! He rips it up live and will make you want to punch someone in the face with his energy!!!!
He sounds cool when he gets to singing, hopefully they can give him some Sound of white noise quality material, and not have him talking over songs. I will give it a chance, but John Bush would still kick Nanny Felson’s ass!!! Oh, what was his name again…?
