Two of my favorite bands, four of my favorite albums.

The cover of Leviathan and the first four lines of "The Wolf is Lose" proves that Mastodon has a hard on for whales.

As a personal note, Sleeping Giant (from Blood Mountain) is one of the best songs ever written!

mastodon is amazing. They get a bunch of credit, but still don't get the credit they deserve in my opinion. If you loved Leviathan (which I know you did) you should check out the instrumental version of the album covered by the Taste of Chaos ensemble. cool shit, check it out!

These are both amazing records. I also loved Sacrament. And Blood Mountain is pretty much the best record released this decade so far.

Fully agree with the thoughts on the Blood and Thunder. The whole album is filled with memorable lines. They combined the action and the philosophy of story perfectly.

Gonna go out on a limb here and say one of the best metal/hard rock albums not just of '04, but of the decade...so far.

I feel as though "the Wolf is loose" is one of the greatest metal songs so far this decade, and nobody else even talks about it as one of the outstanding moments of blood mountain.
