THE WORST BUTCHERING OF “WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE,” LIKE, EVER

A band — US 66 — whose members consist of Tracii Guns (L.A. Guns) on guitar, Joe LeSte (Bang Tango, Beautiful Creatures) on vocals, Steven Adler (Adler’s Appetite, ex-Guns N’ Roses) on drums, Chip Z’Nuff (Enuff Z’nuff) on bass, and Michael Thomas (Faster Pussycat) on guitar ought to be able to perform a somewhat decent version of the Guns N’ Roses classic “Welcome to the Jungle,” right? Wrong.

What probably started as a fun, drunken idea (“Hey duuuudez! Let’s play Welcome to the Jungle” tonight! It’ll be awesome!”) ended as a trainwreck at last summer’s Rocklahoma festival. What with Tracii Guns proclaiming “We started Guns N’ Roses together” after introducing Steven Adler — which, while technically the truth he had NOTHING to do with “Welcome to the Jungle” — then the band members guessing when to come in after the intro, flubbing notes, and some of the sloppiest guitar playing I’ve ever heard, the result is downright embarrassing. Have a looksie.

Hell, *I* can butcher a song on guitar, but at least I don’t do it at a major (?) rock festival. That’s a giant bowl of shit.

Is that song really that repetitive? Man, Guns and Thomas just butchered the song.

Random: One time I tricked a guy from a band that I was friends with into believing that I was interviewing him for Metal Edge magazine, and I told him that Joe Leste thought their CD was “raging”. I also told him that my name was Neil Turbin. He didn’t catch on. It was awesome.

That Bang Tango song “Someone Like You” still kicks ass, too.

    This wasn’t *that* bad. I would’ve done a lot worse…

ironically, i think Steven Adler was actually the worst performer out of everyone in that clip. he was the one that made the song sound really repetitive

Ok, correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t the GNR behind the music on VH1 make it seem like Adler has brain damage from drug use? If so, that is a pretty decent rendition of the song considering the rhythm is being handled by someone that has a hard time forming simple sentences.
