GRUNGE SUPERGROUP JJJJAMMz OF THE DIZZAY

Temple of the Dog coverWhat an exciting pairing of bands at the time — Pearl Jam and Soundgarden — and while I would not specifically call out Temple of the Dog‘s self-titled (and only) 1990 album as having an extremely grungy sound, obviously it had the proper ingredients, and comprises a pretty fine collection of songs.

Everyone surely remembers the hit off this album, “Hunger Strike” (with Dr. Vedder himself joining Chris Cornell on alternating verse vocals), but here’s a few other winning tracks from said album:

TEMPLE OF THE DOG - “Say Hello To Heaven”

TEMPLE OF THE DOG – “Wooden Jesus”

TEMPLE OF THE DOG - “All Night Thing”

just for clarification, TOTD was actually a Chris Cornell written album in remembrance of the late singer of Mother Love Bone who was also Chris’ roomate and best friend. Several of the members of MLB ended up in Pearl Jam and played on this record backing Chris.

Insider rumor has it that it was recorded over an extended period of time and that Hunger Strike is actually the first recording of Eddie Vedder even though it was released later……

This is such a brilliant record. On some days, I consider it to be the greatest of the grunge albums.
