WHILE WE’RE POSTING COVERS OF SOUNDGARDEN’S “RUSTY CAGE”, CHECK OUT JOHNNY CASH’S (+BONUS JC/NIN COVER VIDEO)

Maybe it’s because the Soil version Vince just posted is so damn awful, maybe ’cause the iconic Johnny Cash would probably never appear on this website otherwise — in any case, here’s the dark cowboy’s cover version of Soundgarden’s “Rusty Cage”…and it’s pretty awesome!
Also, if you weren’t depressed enough that it’s Monday, here’s the weepy Mark Romanek-directed video of the Johnny Cash cover version of Nine Inch Nails’ “Hurt”. Ironically Mr. Cash’s last video ever; very touching and fitting as his final performance.

I’ve always loved this version, it really sounds like it coulda been a Cash song originally.
Wow. I’ve never heard this version. Love where the band comes in with the electric guitars and drums.
I remember this was the first song I had ever heard by Johnny Cash and it was on Good Day LA when he died. It wasn’t until much later that I found out it was by NIN.
Johnny Cash is (err, was) The Man. Hell yeah.
Although the whole ‘getting off drugs and finding god’ thing was kinda lame. Haha.
both of those covers are great. Cash did other great covers like Danzig’s 13, U2’s One and Tom Petty’s Won’t Back Down.
I actually like Johnny’s cover of Hurt more than the original.
I am here at a forum newcomer. Until I read and deal with the forum.
Let’s learn!
