SIKTH IS FUCKING SIK

Thursday, December 27th, 2007 at 10:53am by Vince Neilstein

Remember SiKth, the best band of 2007 that didn’t actually release a record in 2007? Equal parts Meshuggah, Between the Buried and Me, Porcupine Tree, Dillinger Escape Plan and Tool, SiKth are really the artist’s artist — every single detail of everything has meaning and is thought out completely. Their 2006 release Death of a Dead Day has literally been blowing the minds of everyone I’ve played it for, which is pretty much anyone who lays foot in the MetalSucks Mansion. Yet why has no one in America heard of this U.K.-based prog-metal powerhouse?

Thanks to our boy Frank @ MetalInjection we’ve unearthed some of the band’s music videos and live clips. First, a proper story-telling narrative music video for the album’s first track “Bland Street Bloom,” then a video of live footage from various shows of the song “Flogging Horses,” which shows just how amazing the musicianship is. Word on the street is that the band needs two new singers — can someone get on that ASAP so we can see them live, please? Mmmkay, thanks.

really? I find them kinda lame. good musicians but too poppy/jump!jump! for me.

  2. Wayne says:

This band sounds EXACTLY the way your description suggested.

  3. Sammy says:

Adding Tool into your description is just your bias towards tool speaking, but I’d add Dream Theater into the mix with the odd time changes and guitar work. Can you imagine seeing these guys and Meshuggah on the same bill. Talk about making your head spin. It would be like a straight-to-the-vein injection of meth/cocaine.

  4. Kye says:

Easily one of the best bands out there.

Aaaanndd, what’s the deal with their search for a singer? Are they having open auditions or what?

  5. yeah, I don’t about the Tool comparison – but the rest of the comparison is right on. Meshuggah but more accessible. I’m not going to argue with that. I appreciate where Meshuggah is coming from but have never been able to fully get into their sound. Back it up a little, like this and I can dig.

lets put it this way. i have never got into DEP but i fuckin love this band. way more melodic. the more accessible comment is also dead on. i’m definitely one of those people who’s mind is being blown right now.

  8. Vitruvian Ape says:

I dunno, they kinda sound like a cross between korn and bullet for my valentine, and i can def see a little a7x rippoff-i mean influence. They might wanna see if chester taylor and the other guy from linkin suck are free.

just kidding, they’re great but why are their cd’s going for 20-30 bucks on amazon?(see right-hand column)

  9. robby says:

1st sikth is not dead. and trust me they are much more technical than btbam, better song writters aswell. checkout The saftey fire for a better btbam comparison. and they were around before a7x so dont even go there broseph.
