Certainly one of the most thunderous contemporary French metal bands out there, Gojira play earthy, bottom-heavy chugga chugga, and the throaty yelling adds a perfect touch of melody to the punch.
I first heard about Joe Duplantier and Co. in an issue of Revolver Magazine (methinks) sometime last year, and I immediately went out and “picked up” as much of their music as I could find. Very curious to hear where these chaps’ll head next…
Note: they were originally called Godzilla, and had to change their name due to legal disputes. Alls I can say is, the Japanese are clearly so much more understanding than us Westerners!
