SUFFOCATION’S “INFECTING THE CRYPT,” THEN AND NOW

Ah, the simple pleasures of New York’s own Suffocation. They only want you to die in the most painful, horrific manner imaginable – is that so wrong?

Anyway, here’s two clips of the band performing “Infecting the Crypt.” I don’t know exactly what year the first clip was filmed, but Frank Mullen still has all his hair, so it must’ve been back in the day. The second clip was taken from a performance in Bucharest last year. You can argue amongst yourselves if this band has aged like a fine wine or with all the dignity of Joan Rivers.

I love this band live. Their recordings? Not so much. I just don’t think they’ve had the right production for their monstrous sound. It’s like taking Suffocation and stuffing them into a little box. I hate their CDs. I mean, I love their songs and never miss them when they come to town, but their CDs just don’t do it for me. It’s frustrating.
