HAS THE NEW METALLICA ALBUM LEAKED?

A very special thanks to MetalSucks reader Kevin Boyce, who pointed us to this website and this website, both of which are hosting what are allegedly demos for the new Metallica album. A quick preliminary listen leaves us feeling unsure if these are real are not; the music is certainly Metallica-esque – and actually very promising in terms of the album being a return to form for the metal masters – but it’s tough to tell if that’s actually Hetfield singing or not. Adding to our confusion is the fact that neither of the untitled new songs the band debuted during their Escape from the Studio tour in the summer of ‘06 are present amongst this crop of tracks; of course, it’s entirely possible that those songs have long since been ditched altogether.
So are they real or not? And if they are real, do they give us hope? Download these songs now and decide for yourself before Metallica’s lawyers get involved. In the meantime, after the jump are clips of the band performing those two new songs.
UPDATE: Apparently Metallica’s management has confirmed that these are fake. Oh well.

Got this earlier and I was very confused at first. The middle tracks thru the end sound more like them. I have to say, it got me very excited to hear the finished version.
To answer your question, Metallica have already gone on record saying that “The New Song” and “The Other New Song” that they debuted live 2 years ago will not be on the new record (in their full form). I’ll see if I can dig up one of the interviews…
Here you go: http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=73895
hmmm…well it definitely sounds like Metallica….and it sounds like James Hetfield…just without the polish of the final mixes.
And these are pretty badass tracks. If this is the real thing, I’m fucking excited.
That is *NOT* James Hetfield! Come on, seriously guys? It sounds more like Phil Anselmo than James!
I would stake my entire next term’s tuition that this isn’t Metallica. Doesn’t sound like them at all.
These have been around since before St. Anger was released. It is a christian metal band called Eternal Decision.
“Risen with Christ?” “God gave me life?”
Just listen to the lyrics on this first song, and you know it’s fake.
Glad someone cleared that up, and I was actually about to ask when Metallica became so into Christianity.
I actually get a real kick out of people being excited about the recordings of some no name christian metal band, because they think it is Metallica’s return to their glory days! Is this how far metallica has fallen? Just proves once again that in this day and age, Metallica is just a name, and nothing more.
I agree with Seth 100%. Metallica hasn’t been relevant for a long, long time. Those “new” tunes have more in common with ‘Load” & “St. Anchor” than with legit classic Metallica.
[...] d. That new shitty sound you hear is not the new Metallica but it will be. Or at least probably be. HERE. [...]
NO way in Hell this is James singing he can’t sing this way.. he are old like the other
anyway thanks..
The last good thing metallica did was sue Napster. Die.
Why are we fooled by this? This happens every time Metallica are about to release an album. And it’s never genuine.
Oh, and by the way: you can all slag off Metallica all you want, but it doesn’t hide the fact that if it wasn’t for that band then none of you dickheads would even be into heavy metal. They deserve respect.
Ok it has now been confirmed these songs are from
the band Eternal Decision.
Example: go to this web url and play track 3. The Search
http://www.amazon.com/Eternal-Decision/dp/B00122LZI6/ref=mb_oe_o
Now play Track 8. Throne of Ivory from the new metallica album
it’s the same song. What some one did was taken different songs from
Eternal Decision three albums that sound a lot like James
and renamed them.
get in touch with life people them new songs are GARBAGE.Only thing saving them is lars drumming.
This is the band Eternal Decision,I went to their mypace page and that is definitly them and NOT Metallica. And for all the Metallica haters on this page that say they arent relative anymore,,why the hell are you responding to all this then,Metallica rule, always have, always will.I didnt like all of St. Anger, but they have been a favorite of mine from the beginning and when i hear them come on the old XM Radio, they get turned way up.Like the one guy in here said,’If it wasnt for Metallica, none of you dickheads would be listening to metal”And there would be no gay ass shit like avenged sevenfold, holy fuck are they gay,its funny that they think they are metal, they are good charlottes older brothers, just not quite as gay,but damn close.METALLICA FUCKING RULE………………………………….
ok i gave this a good long listen and i see where it could be metallica some of it is very metallica ,however……3 things just dont sit right with me (1)half of the singing does NOT sound like hetfield(2)with a bass player like trujillo you would think the bass lines would be better and (3)theres another band claiming its them! well only time will tell and make fools of us all!the upside is if you like what you hear(which i do)you have this to enjoy and a new metallica album to look forward to!
I’ve listened to all “new” Metallica songs, and they are all just the same as the Eternal Decision album on the link above. So I mean, it cant be Metallica! And that’s what I first thought, that’s not James Hetfield! Fuck no.
.. Oh well .. Metallica .. is .. and will be the kings of Heavy Metall .. they trash them all … Metallica forever …
[...] there was no way to confirm that they were actual Cryptopsy songs, and, well, after the whole Metallica debacle a few months back I wanted to be [...]
The irony here, misleading Metallica fans via the use of a Christian Group, Eternal Decision (personally, I think “Eternal Derailment” would be a more fitting name, lol). Much like the Catholic Church kept humanity misled for a millennium called the Dark Ages. Perhaps it is this millennium Revelation is actually in reference to (guess it’s a wonder they didn’t bury it like the gospels of Thomas and Mary for not fitting into their political agenda). At least, by contrast, we’re only going to be in the dark for a few months, lol. And yes, this is the first Eternal Decision album, the tracks have been renamed and very slightly reordered (they moved one track out of order), and the two infamous tracks “Hunger” (which they’ve been using since before Garage Inc. came out) and “Power” (used most recently as a St. Anger fake) have been left out to make it less obvious. I have the real CD, I ordered it when I found out who really did “Hunger” because I liked the song (and at the time I was an agnostic so it’s mysticism-based content wasn’t in direct conflict with my beliefs, for the sake of keeping things short, let’s just say, my mind has since matured). So, if the clips on the link didn’t make it obvious enough, take it from someone who owns the CD and knows it well. The true names and numbers of all 10 tracks are as follows:
01 – Risen
04 – Overflow
05 – Things I Say
06 – Fearless
07 – Imminent Destruction
08 – Alive
09 – Turn
03 – The Search
11 – C.T.G.
12 – Stomping Ground
Tracks 02 and 10 are “Power” and “Hunger” respectively. So, the only included track that’s out of place is track 03. Why even bother moving it? This is the most unprofessional forgery I’ve seen, (they could have at least used a local band we couldn’t track down so easily).
this goes to show that you or a friend will have to buy the album before we hear it i doubt they will even put out as single until the release date
This is not metallica. im sure everyone already knows that but just to clarify, the song “Throne of ivory” is identical to Eternal Decisions “The Search”
At first it did sound like Metallica, but the playing style is all wrong, sounds nothing like them after a certain point.
Also, I dont get why everyone hates Load . Imo they are great Prog metal albums and have some kick ass songs on em. the only album i dont like is St. Anger, it is way farther off point from Metallica’s origins then anything else (too much deathness).
So I can proudly say I am one of the seemingly few true fans that like 98% of their catalog, and is willing to bend a little bit in the taste of the music to further enjoy it.
but one thing is for sure, Metallica is the worlds #1 metal band and always will be.
