OLD SCHOOL PROGRESSIVE DEATH METAL FROM AMBIENT DEATH

Ambient DeathThis is exactly why I love blogs like Invisible Oranges (and Aversionline) — they dredge up bands from the deep, deep underground that I would never in a million years find on my own. Like Brooklyn’s Ambient Death in my own back yard, a band that mixes classic metal guitars with progressive song arrangements and a melodic sense gleaned from ’90s European death metal. In fact, they remind me a whole lot of another band from the area, the very excellent Hung about whom we’ve written before on these pages.

Check out some more of the bands material on their MySpace page. Hopefully they’ll schedule some live dates soon.

I have to say…even though this genre isnt my cup of tea (I’m into Neo-Classical Heavy Metal and Thrash)….this song kicked ass.

i’ve been really into his band lately, glad to see you guys are enjoying it.

  • Hung may have to perform with these guys

  • this band is mad ambient! using crazy guitar distortions to make keyboard style effects takes a lot of know-how and skill. i’m even more amazed that this is only a three-piece band! as far as i know, they are working on a few more songs so they can have enough to play their first live set. and when they do, they’re going to bring the American metal scene back into the world’s focus!
