DEP ON CO’B

Thursday, February 7th, 2008 at 2:13pm by Axl Rosenberg

So The Dillinger Escape Plan were on Conan last night, and while front man Greg Puciato did not make good on his promise to set the late night talk show host’s desk ablaze, he did jump on it, and he also, as I predicted he would, ran into the audience, where, sure, enough, almost everyone seemed freaked out by him (except that one dude who jumped and high fived him; that guy is cool).

ANYWAY, watch the clip of the band performing “Black Bubblegum” below.

Their most subdued performance yet. Conan’s little dance – awesome. Conan even booking them – awesome.

  2. SickSixSeth says:

That was disappointing. I really wish they would have done a different song. Oh well.

I was disappointed also… the song’s not bad for radio play, but it was kind of boring for a live performance. If they wanted to do a “poppier” song, they should have went with Milk Lizard.

Ok, first off, Conan kicks ass for booking DEP. Hell, Conan kicks ass in general.

I too wish they played a different song, BUT, I know it would never happen in a million years for a million reasons. That song was the only song that would get them on network televsion (although Milk Lizard maybe, which I find to be a much better song). Still, how awesome would it have been for them to just start playing Black Bubblegum, then in the middle just morph in Party Smasher or something and just destroy the entire studio audience. I say they’d have about 30 seconds of mass chaos before NBC pulled the plug on the whole thing.

Much better than the DEP I’ve seen/heard before. All their other shit I’ve heard sounds like a garbage disposal running while the guitarists do ninja kicks and other trendy moves to match thier emo haircuts.

Greg’s singing on the chorus made me think of what it would sound like if Al Green sang metal…and that’s a damn good thing! Also, he is shorter than Jon Stewart. Just sayin’.

  7. [...] Video by Metal Injection Conan O’Brien, this ain’t. [...]
