King has written some of the most iconic metal riffs of all time, then has gone on to ruin them with non-sensical fretboard jack-offs. Simon Cowel can't sing a note, but makes $100 million a year evaluating musical talent - or the kind of talent that sells, anyway. I don't have to be Eric Clapton to know when something is shit. Technically speaking, Kerry King is a REALLY piss poor soloist (Hanneman isn't much better). However, it's that careening train flying off the rails thing he has that just happens to fit Slayer so well that it kinda doesn't matter. I mean, if they ever decided to 'slow things down' and play less evil, blistering fair his limitations as a player would show through and it would be painful to listen to. It's probably why he's stuck to the formula that has worked all these years and I still love him for it. Ugh!
