RICHARD PATRICK STILL WANTS YOU TO TAKE HIS PICTURE
Wednesday, February 27th, 2008 at 3:42pm by Axl Rosenberg
Am I the only person hoping that the return of Filter would mean Richard Patrick was going to make more industrial-flavored alt rock? ‘Cause we’ve had no such luck: “Soldiers of Misfortune,” the new single currently streaming on Filter’s MySpace page, is more easy-listening in the vein of “Take A Picture,” a.k.a. “The Song that Makes Axl Rosenberg Wanna Murder Richard Patrick Every Time He Hears It.”
Look: I know Patrick ain’t gonna turn around and make a Cannibal Corpse album – and I wouldn’t want him to – but is another “Hey Man Nice Shot” or “Welcome to the Fold” too much to ask?

I’ll take it considering I thought they were done completely.
Filter has always been one of my favorite bands. They are a weird thing for me though – musically they are incredible…but Richard Patrick writes lyrics like he’s in 5th grade. For some reason, they bother me but not enough to hate them.
It’s better than the wannabe supergroup he attempted to front… Wait, no it’s not. Apparently commercial rock is way cooler than industrial these days. Fuck you, Trent.
The first album = Awesome.
The rest: UNLISTENABLE GARBAGE.
I actually agree with Tony on this one. I pull out the first album every now and again, but I’ve been considering selling off the others. I doubt I’ll even buy this new one.
I 1/2 agree with Tony. The “unlistenable garbage” part is true, except that it’s true for all of Filter’s catalogue. This was the type of ’90s music that I fucking hated. Actually, make that present tense: hate.
whats wrong with take a picture i love that song, that song is the only thing i like from them
His first album was amazing. But, then i heard his other albums and every album he puts out becomes more of a pile of shit.
