What happened Cryptopsy? They need to bring Lord Worm back. Maybe he will knock some sense back into them. When he came back for Once Was Not, he brought the band back. That album was amazing The song “Angelskingarden”, wow, too good to be true. Lord Worm…Come Back!!!!!!!!!!!

I love this album and really respect Cryptopsy for having the balls to make a cd like this.

Cryptopsy was the cream of the crop. They were among the forerunners of the extreme metal sub genre and now they have chosen to head in another direction. They have made room for Necrophagist and Beneath The Massacre. A lot of other bands are just as qualified as these two, but they stick out the most in my mind [as far as speed and technical prowess]. listen, the drumming is good as always, but the music is shit….and it’s not cryptopsy, when you change directions, you should change the band name….two new members + new sound = new band….it’s not fucking crytopsy anymore!

I have to say I agree with your rant. It’s the equivalent of some guy who puts 38″ tires on top of a 20″ lift on his truck to PROVE he’s badass – that’s the attitude of a lot of fans of extreme metal music who think anything less is for pussies. I’m guessing it’s a small dick thing.

this is disappointing. The drumming as usual destroys, but that is about all i can make out. The growly-core meatle vox are pretty annoying, and the arrangements remind me of myspace deathcore crap. I understand they want to grow as a band, but taking your direction towards an already completely saturated and stale sound is not the way to do it. I have mad respect for what they did back in the day, so i will jsut chalk this up to a bad decision and hope for a better album next time. On a side note, I imagine the way Flo’s drums are turned up in the mix he might as well just start a band called Flotopsy. The rest of the instruments are just above inaudible. They’re doing it wrong. Whoever mixed this was a moron. I hate the way metal mixers throw the vocals (unintelligible grunting) way out front to the detriment of the actual MUSIC that should be what we came to listen for in the first place. I mean, seriously, how many times do we have to hear screaming and grunting pushed into the red while you hear little buzzsaw casio guitars and and NO bass? WTF people? Anyone who records music should take that to heart. Ok rant over…I’m disgusted.

This song isn’t as bad as the other two out there on the net. Search for Bemoan the Martyr. It is terrible music. This is song is absolutely shitty too. It has nothing to do with changing style. It has to do with making terrible music. It’s not the same band. Once Jon left the band…Cryptopsy was dead.

I am a huge fan of vile and beg thought both were great albums, both very different but both great none the less. But i wasnt exactly taken by the last album left me cold so while if yet to hear the new tracks (because im doing this from work in a library) i dont exactly hold much hope. Seems the line-up changes after beg really took their character.

Give em a break. They can’t be restricted to being extreme death grind for their whole careers. There’s really no excitement from a musicians standpoint. I thought their last album was pretty butt.

Even viewed through Elton John-sized rose-colored glasses, these songs are contrived and trivial at best. It would appear that they are trying to reach a broader demographic, but with this shit they should be targeting the deaf.
