Excellent work! Great run-through the band’s history, nice going.

I would object to some of the songs you chose (no Crawl Through Knives?!), but great work nonetheless.

Mixed feeling as well with the new album. It is almost dare I say boring. Whats up with In Flames and Soilwork and their guitar sound. Took me awhile to get used to soilwork’s newest maybe it just takes time.

Where does Soilwork fit into all of this? I am a huge soilwork fan, and I know they began around this time. Were they directly influenced by In Flames or more one of their contemporaries?

Legendary band. I definitely agree that progression is much better than stagnation – even if Reroute to Remain and Soundtrack to Your Escape misstepped at times, Come Clarity was a brilliant fusion of the new and old.

So far I’ve only heard The Mirror’s Truth single, and I quite like it, though the guitar harmonies and solos seem to be slightly buried under the production. Looking forward to A Sense of Purpose.

I like every album but Soundtrack To Your Escape. I really don’t understand the hipsters that cry sellout when a band actually progresses. If every album In Flames recorded sounded like Jester’s Race these same people would be decrying as much. You’re either a trend-hound or an admirer of music. And any true admirer of music would look at how In Flames has progressed and be in awe of their body of work.

This was a pretty well written overview of the band’s career. I dig it.

Great bio guys! Very well done, concise but it covers all aspects of their careers. And i applaud you for not going apeshit on the Reroute/Soundtrack days. Most reviewers just tend to tear those albums down, but you actually defended it. Good work.

Also, have heard the new album. Mixed feelings at the moment, doesn’t seem to have the overt thrash edge of Come Clarity, and Anders sounds like he’s nailed the ‘pitched scream’. Definately more of a Reroute sound. We’ll have to see how it sounds with non-Myspace quality sound.
