LAIR OF THE MINOTAUR HAVE MADE THE BEST METAL VIDEO EVER. REALLY. THE BEST ONE EVER.
Thursday, April 3rd, 2008 at 11:03am by Vince NeilsteinEarlier this week Axl wrote a post plugging the new Lair of the Minotaur video for “War Metal Battle Master” without having seen it yet; well, today I finally watched it. Holy. Shit.
If ever there is a video worthy of two posts in a week, this is it. If Lair of the Minotaur’s new video doesn’t win the award for sheer bad-assery, I don’t know what will. And if there’s no such thing as an award for sheer bad-assery then there should be, and this video should win it. I mean for fuck’s sake, the video features men in armor pulverizing each other with enormous swords and other assorted medieval weaponry, blood spewing from decapitated torsos, and naked chicks eating flesh off of severed legs and dead bodies.
I’m going to write that again, put it in bold and underline it in case any of you are skimming this article and missed it: men in armor pulverizing each other with enormous swords and other assorted medieval weaponry, blood spewing from decapitated torsos, and naked chicks eating flesh off of severed legs and dead bodies.
Get your attention yet? Oh, and there’s some metal in it too, and dudes playing guitar or something. Prepare to summon your inner Beavis whilst watching. Go view it here (no embedding allowed).

This song (and the video) pretty much own.
Well…the song was terrible…but the video was at least original…
See, that’s the problem with someone OVERselling a movie/video/song/etc. One’s expectations are set too high. Frenetic millisecond scenes with B-movie blood and body parts. wow. Like GWAR hasn’t been doing this for 20 years.
One problem with that video. No fire. No fire = not metal video.
Ya I thought it sucked too. The “men in armor” were *NOT* “pulverizing” each other… it was probably the worst acting I’ve seen in my life. The song was nothing special either.
Love everything about Lair of the Minotaur right now.
i think thats the first metal video that actually gave me chills. most of them make me laugh. i should try this band
That was a pretty epic battle of Shirts Vs. Skins, loser gets eaten.
Seriously though, the song had no redeeming value whatsoever…
Wtf, this shit sucks.
the band, song, and video all sucked, and i knew it would.
I have to give it an epic thumbs down as well. But I guess that’s metal for you: mostly shit, but the good stuff is truly unstoppable.
LotM aren’t truly unstoppable.
that was definatly the most fucked up video i’ve ever seen
While this video is great, for no budget metal videos you can’t beat Divine Pustulence’s Blowtorch Lobotomy. Oh yeah, I directed it.
Ahhhhh, I did not know you cannot embed vids in the comments. Here’s a link to Blowtorch Lobotomy.

OK. Video was pretty good. Nice titties and blood. Song fucking sucked though. If you could just layer this video over the top of Reign in Blood, that would work. This shit sucked though.
It’s always nice to see bands putting more effort into their videos than the song itself…and that’s really not saying much in this case.
Bonus points for naked titties however.
Horrible song.
[...] recent video for the track “Internal Examination.” It’s only the second best blood-drenched titties video I’ve ever seen, but [...]
I saw this video a while back, I didn’t know MetalSucks had already posted it (sorta like the ‘I saw that relatively unheard of, low-budget movie too, man!’ syndrome)…Any-ho…
The Good: The video is good; has everything Vince suggested (medieval weaponry, blood spewing from decapitated torsos, and naked chicks eating flesh off of severed legs and dead bodies). Nice cinematography (again, for an under-budget metal video…I’ve seen some HORRIBLY badly done metal videos, and I’m almost certain that you probably all have as well).
The Bad: The song isn’t particularly memorable. Neither is the band. Moreover, the thing that ruined the video for me was the video footage of the band playing (it was too ‘mis-matched’). I was expecting the band to be a bit more ‘theatrical’ in appearance (i.e. Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, GWAR, Lordi, MuDvAyNe, etc.) Hell even Rob Zombie is better suited for this video than the band.
Bottom Line: ‘Slightly-less-than-Awesome’ video (overall) but not the best. That honor is reserved for…Well…I just know it’s not this video. Seems like the guy who made this video was a bit taken by the movie “300″ thrown in the mix with “Dawn of the Dead” (for the gore content). By the way, what’s with all the ‘Japanese-Kanjii’ writing on the band’s website…I mean it has a Greek or Mediterranean backdrop…So unless this is one of those ‘East meet’s a-little-further-than Middle-East’ videos, what’s the correlation?
