I just saw The Binary Code in NJ on a show that was supposed to be headlined by Heaven Shall Burn. HSB walked out because the promoter apparently sucks.

But I stayed for three bands, and The Binary Code was the best one. They have a new vocalist, but that guy wasn't quite ready for live performances, so they just played instrumental. By golly, did they sound awesome or what?

Why isn't this band signed? I stumbled upon this band at their show with Beneath the Massacre (was on tour with one of the bands on the slot), and heard them from outside, saying to myself, "Is that local? There's no way." We hung out with the dudes afterwards at a restaurant, and they totally knew their shit about music too. Not theory, but just music. Very passionate aura coming from those guys. Funny as can shit too.

I actually was in Mana Studios with them when they recorded their 2005 demo with Erik Rutan. I interviewed them...but it never was released. They had so many line-up changes and problems, its good to see they are being recognized now. I hope they can find a vocalist. The demo they have is amazing.

there have been plenty of good technical death bands. it's just that people don't seem to want to listen to anything that isn't shoveled on them by faceless (pun fully intended) imitators. for instance, when are people going to start talking about anata as one of the best bands to come out of sweden in a long time? they've been hacking away at it for ages. or psycroptic, who are finally getting a little recognition for their success with their inclusion at summer slaughter.

enough with this brain drill stuff already. go listen to theory in practice, sadist, or some equally worthy band. if you are unfamiliar with the genre, listen to ATHEIST. there is no better starting point than that.
