I will take ‘just another Judas Priest’ album over another hunk of shit Slipknot record or basically 65% of the rest of the “metal” that is out there.

I agree with the ticket price bitch. H&H, JP, Motorhead & Testament are touring late in the summer. They’re coming to San Diego, $20-100 a ticket. meaning that $20 is waaaay back on the lawn, no seating, and you can’t see. What happned to General Admission? H&H toured with Megadeth at the same venue (here in SD), tickets were $50 for pit, $40 and less for seating and lawn. Much more affordable, and we weren’t stuck in a damned seat!

*actually my point is that whoever is showing energy is so thinned out in the crowd, it’s hard to notice if anyone really gives a shit what the hell they’re listening to. When I saw them in a GA[at the ungodly price of $200, scalped] it was completely different. Fucking lower ticket prices and play runs at smaller venues or something if you want good energy, or else continue playing to the same OLD people over and over who can AFFORD to see you

Bruce definitely has something very very against America. I’m not so sure about the rest of the band though. Whatever, based on Bruce’s remarks it’s his own fault for booking seated amphitheaters. He doesn’t expect to see fat rich people sitting down in the better seats with a dumb smirk downing 7 or 8 footlong hot dogs, while showing zero energy? Fuck, when I saw maiden at such a place, Bruce pointed me out specifically, and, you know, I could kind of see him, if i tilted my head the right way and squinted really hard, and I have very good vision… My point is the rest of the theater fit his terrible description of Americans.

Priest > Maiden. “Angel of Retribution” was one of the only decent outputs by a vintage band in over a decade. Maiden’s “A matter of Life and Death” was a strong effort, but once again, Maiden was Priest’s catcher.

BTW, anyone want to explain to me why Eddie is wearing a Nazi helmet on the front cover of “A Matter of Life and Death”? Granted, the Nazis had the coolest uniforms of WWII hands down. But, I thought England was on the Allies side. The cover is really confusing. Eddie is a wearing a nazi helmet with two m16 vietnam era looking automatic weapons as the crossbones. Most of the soldiers look WWII era american troops w/ the exception of the doo-rag trooper who looks Vietnam. The landscape looks WWII as does the tank. So, are these some traitor skeletal warriors marching for the Fuhrer? I’m sure it isn’t, but you can always count on heavy metal bands exploiting the “rad” death concept with no regard for consistancy.

I’ve heard that Maiden holds the US in very low regard. Is the sneaky point of the cover that America is the new Nazi Germany? Nah, I’ll stick w/ my first thought of “put a bunch of skeletons, explosions, and guns on the cover and insecure males will buy it”. Ofcourse I bought it, and I do think it’s one of the best Maiden album covers they’ve had in years. Fuck it, it’s heavy metal.

And before anyone points out that I screwed up, it was the Painkiller tour I saw Priest on – not Ram It Down. I think this new Priest album is going to be 50/50 – I’m hoping it’s as good as “Angel”, but it’s got a lot to live up to in that respect.

I thought “Painkiller” was a weak effort – yes, heavy but mediocre songwriting – but “Angel of Retribution” was a VERY worthy comeback. So, I’m interested. As for Maiden, I thought Dickinson’s last three solo albums were far better than the ~stuck in neutral~ stuff from the past couple Maiden offerings. Not bad albums, just kind of generic Steve Harris music.

I like Brave New World a lot more than Dance of Death, and I think Angel of Retribution is really “just another Priest record”

On the Maiden release – I thought Brave New World was pretty weak, to be honest. Dance of Death was *far* better – in fact, is amongst my favourite Maiden albums of all time. Can’t really comment on “Life and Death” as I’ve only listened to it once.

As for Priest… really looking forward to new stuff. I’m seeing them in Belgium in late June so I hope I get a chance to hear the album first. Angel of retribution was *superb*. Far, far better than I thought it would be so fingers crossed they keep up that quality. I’ve not seen them live in around 16 years (touring on Ram It Down with Annihilator supporting, themselves touring on their second album). Should be good!
