OZZFEST TO BE TWO DAY EVENT

Blabbermouth is reporting that this year’s edition of Ozzfest “will consist of two separate two-day (Saturday/Sunday) events — one of which will be held in Dallas — in late July/early August.” Ozzy and Metallica will headline on separate days, and apparently Rigor Mortis will play the Dallas date, too.
Honestly? I’m all for some kind of Download/Wacken Open Air-style event here in the US, and maybe this could be it. Even if I’m in no particular rush to see Ozzy again (seriously, dude, unless you’re gonna break out some rarities or at least play “No More Tears,” I’ve had enough frog hopping for one lifetime, thank you) or, for that matter, Metallica, I know you need those kinds of household name bands to sell a big fest like this one – and the inclusion of Rigor Mortis makes me feel somewhat optimistic about the rest of the line-up. Not that I’m huge Rigot Mortis fan or anything – but if a semi-obscure band that most Hot Topic shoppers will have never heard of, maybe the rest of the line-up will be cool. Right?

there should be a festival like wacken here, but at the same time ozzfest should still tour. theres alot of people that cant make it to dallas so i dont think the ticket sales will be as high as it was when ozzfest traveled i think its a poor choice
I’m all in favor of a Wacken-caliber fest here, but Ozzfest won’t be it. Sorry.
Give it some time though, I think it will happen.
The Ozzfest is sure as hell not gonna beat this year’s Heavy Mtl festival (I’m talking about day one,including bands like Iron Maiden,Three Inches of Blood and Symphony X,Overkill,and Mastodon) and also Summer Slaughter Canada headlined by fuckin’ Dying Fetus.
It never stops in Montreal for some reason.Dunno if it ever has.
And the tickets must be ridiculously expensive,and I’m not gonna empty my pockets for Sharon to get yet another fucking facelift.Thanks.

I’d like the idea a bit more if it had 2 locations. One West coast, one east coast
North America’s bigger than Europe, and we don’t have the cheap(er) train system for getting around, it’s planes or road tripping or bust. So a few other cities would be nice. Still, this can’t be anything but a good thing for the American festival scene. Hope it does well and tickets aren’t too expensive.

The sexist fucking pigs in the Metal community are going to shit all over the whole “Sharon Osbourne” led “Cash Grab.” Unfortunately, people who like Metal are retarded fucking Neanderthals who can’t handle powerful and intelligent women. They like their broads young, stupid and big-breasted. The fact that a woman happens to be married to the Godfather of Metal and also happens to be a marketing genius is just too much to handle. That isn’t a woman’s place after all. If you’re a woman, your place is in a Metalhead’s lap, according to these retards.
I am so sick and fucking tired of the Sharon bashing. She’s one of the most brilliant females in Metal history and yet all these apetards can’t handle it, so they resort to the stupid-ass mookish sexism.
As far as Ozzy is concerned I guess I, personally, am glad to see him still at it at his age. The classic songs are still classics and it’s great to hear the guy who recorded them playing those songs live. The man is a legend and the cheap shots being leveled against him by you guys and the Blabbertards is more than a little sickening. Leave Oz alone. He’s the reason why you are able to have this fucking site. Maybe the youngsters prefer the faux-tough guy posturing of today’s “stars” aping what Oz was doing over three decades ago, but deriding the man for his age and stamina is unconscionable.

Anyone with eyes and ears can see and hear what Ozzy is now – an old man. Whatever happened to going out with some dignity? The man isn’t made to be running around on stage “frog hopping” at his age, and his voice, like the rest of him, has gotten old and weak. I’d say it’s pretty plain that Sharon is the driving force behind this. She’s riding the man into his grave.
I have the utmost respect for Ozzy and everything he has done for metal. Sharon, on the other hand, I have trouble crediting with much. What little credit I can give her goes to her efforts in expanding and exposing metal, but I have little doubt that this was as much self-serving as it was beneficent work for the metal community. This isn’t an issue of gender or sex; all I see is a person milking the fame of another for what little there is left.
Also, doesn’t it seem a bit hypocritical to accuse metalheads of gender stereotyping and sexism, and then turn around and calls us “retards” and “Neanderthals”?
