BURTON BELL BURNS SOME BRIDGES

The latest Blabbermouth [via Rock N Roll Experience] news sure to cause an uproar: Burton Bell just gave an interview where he calls Deftones front man Chino Moreno “a dick,” Slipknot’s Joey Jordison a “sloppy” drummer, and asserts that the last few Ozzy albums have been full of “shitty music.”
And, hey, you know what? Horns up to Bell for being honest. Because while I don’t think Jordison is a sloppy drummer and I don’t know Chino well enough to classify him as a dick or otherwise, but Ozzy certainly has been making shitty music for at least three studio albums now. And why the fuck should we fault Bell for speaking his mind? It’s better than the usual being diplomatic bull crap.
Ironically enough, the last time I remember someone this prominent in the metal world really speaking out like this was Chino’s infamous Revolver interview in the summer of ‘03, when he slagged every band he was about to hit the road with for that year’s Summer Sanitarium tour (including Metallica). What goes around comes around, I s’pose…

I respect a persons right to say what they feel but damn, some of the stuff he’s saying seems overly critical. Not a Chino or Deftones fan, but to call someone an asshole because they didn’t want to talk to you? Wow.
Also not one to talk about past few albums being shitty. Good god.
Burton Bell and Dino Cazares have been talking so much shit lately. I’m all for transparency, though!

he’s probably just trying to make (blabbermouth) headlines just to get some buzz going for the FF reunion
I agree that Ozzy’s modernized sound is made for radio and targetting more mainstream audiences.
But there’s one thing no one in the metal community can deny.
Black Sabbath has been giving birth to this ”heavy” sound that has become heavy metal and also the basic of all sub-genres of metal.
This guy is in a thrash metal band.It still comes from the very same place.
Maybe Ozzy isn’t the creator of that sound but he was part of Black Sabbath and represented the band.His first solo records are also legendary.
Metal wouldn’t be the same today if Black Sabbath hadn’t decided to go for something heavier than blues.

Bell hasn’t put out any quality music in over a decade. He turned Fear Factory into Mook Jock Rock. Now he wants to be arty-ambient and it’s just pretentious wankery that’s been done better by pretty much everybody. Bell is the one who is a complete dick.
But yeah, who cares if he wants to speak his mind. More power to him.
I agree with him.. Jordison is sloppy as fuck.
Deftones only released one good cd “Around the Fur”… Atleast that’s what I think it was called. The one with the hot bitch on the cover. Anyway, I’m glad someone said something negative about them for once. They’re the most over rated band I know of.
