The trailer was posted here in a comment last night by “MetallicaKicksMajor,” and is a three minute highlight reel of some pretty darn impressive accomplishments spanning Metallica’s career (i.e. Their catalog album sales since 2000 are second only to The Beatles. 5% of all rock radio airplay consists of Metallica songs — fuckin A!).
Anyway, if you bear with it until the end, you get some new clips. Check it out.

It’s almost painful to hear classics such as seek and destroy and one in the same video as fuel.
So far what I’ve heard is pretty encouraging.
In the first trailer,I’ve heard a killer solo which means Kirk Hammet is definitely back at it with a passion,and in the second trailer it’s pretty fucking clear to me that James has been working on his vocals a lot.I remember reading somewhere that Rick made this a priority.
That’s already two steps in the right direction.I’m not gonna get all hyped and shit,takes a lot more for me to get there.But I gotta say kudos,so far this is looking good.
Well, my predictions are coming true, with a little bonus. Sounds like a Load/Black Album hybrid, but with some faster, ‘Puppets type stuff. Granted I only heard one thrashy riff out of like 15 seconds worth of new shit, but I’ll be damned if it wasn’t the best shit I’ve heard out of them in a long time.
I’d love to say I’m not going to get my hopes up, but FUCK! It’s NEW METALLICA BEING PRODUCED BY RICK RUBIN! Who doesn’t get excited about that? Excluding of course, whiney Metallihaters who are butthurt that Metallica hasn’t played music that doesn’t require massive ammounts of crank in the last 20 years.
I say fuck all the haters. It’s one thing to shun one album, but if you were true Metallica fans, you’d give this shit a chance no matter how many people say it’s going to suck. Bands don’t need fans that turn their backs on them as quickly as I’ve seen some people do.

Some of you poseurs prolly never even listen for the music. you listened for “METALLICA!” cuz it was metal and your friends thought it was cool.
I have officially disowned everything from Load to St. Anger*i must admit that i love Fuel and The Memory Remains, though* but if this album is good then, fuck me, I’m gonna listen to it, unlike some poseurs who aren’t gonna even look at it kuz they didn’t like the last few albums.
Some of those clips sound SOOO f**kin’ badass. I might not buy the whole album*just being clips I can’t be sure everything’s gonna be level* but from what I heard there are at least 2 songs that I’m gonna want.
St. Anger was a brilliant, huge, raw, bleeding piece of meat, and I love it. Frantic is one of my favorite songs of all time. The Unnamed Feeling. St. Anger. Some Kind of Monster. My World. Purify. These songs rock.
Load is a better total album than Reload, but, oddly enough, the best couple of songs from that era come from Reload. Admittedly, some of the songs on those albums suck.
The Black Album is the Black Album, and nothing will ever mute it. It is, and will always be, legendary.
Justice is one of metal’s masterpieces. Puppets, as well.
Metallica is so much better than the fuckin’ pussy bands that are celebrated on this website, it’s hardly worth saying. Holy shit, the list of best albums of 2008 posted on this site are complete pieces of fuck.
I’ve been a fan since middle school (87). I loved Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer. But I’m so glad Metallica isn’t like Megadeth and Slayer, playing the same riffs and chugs over and over again, and the same double bass style that Lars made famous on Lightning. They grew out of it, experimented with some other stuff (like all good artists do), failed with some of it (like all good artists do), made some fucking cool music out of it, as well.
Here’s to the gretest metal band of all time. If the clips we’ve heard are any indication, the new album is going to kick ass.

Master… is the best for me, but i also love Sad but True, Devil’s Dance, Some Kind of Monster, etc. as well as Creeping Death or Motorbreath. It’s nothing difficult to play the same music for 20 years. Its great job to try change, experiment and improve it!
