HOLY SHIT, THE DUDE FROM THE HUMAN ABSTRACT CAN PLAY

The Human Abstract are currently in the studio recording their new album with producer Toby Wright (who, in case ya didn’t know, has worked with everyone from Alice in Chains to Fear Factory to Sevendust to Slayer), and because they grew up watching A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica like everyone else, they’re doing online studio journals… like the one below.

Now, for the first two minutes the guitar player (who looks kinda like that dude from that episode of South Park where the guy is going around fucking chickens in order to teach people to read, or whatever) is just going on and on about his equipment… I dunno, maybe the most hardened guitar geeks will find that part interesting (“He uses Randall amps and Ernie Ball strings?!?!” PEE.), I didn’t. But around the two minute mark, he begins to shred, and… wow… holy crap. He’s fuckin’ good, dude.

Consider me officially excited for this album now.

    Nice picking for sure. The sweeping section was lame, but sweep picking is usually lame by default. Pretty cool behind the scenes vid. Good jub guitar player guy from who ever.

    Sweep picking is sick, but this guy didn’t do it as well as I thought he would be able to. Still shreds though.

    His sweeps are bit sloppy but…”feels like you’re rushing it”? He is playing double time scales, of course it is going to feel that way. The most generic riffs that are packed on to the back of every licks guitar DVD. But hey, Metal Sucks, right?

    his sweeps are pretty shit and he should just take them out.
    Everything else was pretty tight…albeit pretty generic.
