MACHINE HEAD DEBUT VIDEO FOR “HALO”
Thursday, May 29th, 2008 at 11:56am by Vince NeilsteinCritics and fans seemed to agree that Machine Head’s The Blackening was one of the best releases of 2007. Having been released in March of that year, here we are over a year later and Roadrunner is still pumping out videos, a rarity in the current climate of one-and-done single releases. That should speak to the fact that the album is destined to become a modern classic.
I can’t speak for anyone else, but “Halo” was my favorite song from the get-go and I’m thrilled they’ve finally made a video for it. The video is simple but really cool — the Mike Sloat-directed cut indulges in little metal cliche, instead opting for a mix of animated sequences based on The Blackening album artwork and live action sequences of the band members and actors. I dig the polito-religious message too.
Hail Machine Head!

Kinda weird, being that I’m Christian, this is my favorite cut off the record as well. Too bad the solo didn’t make it in video, it totally rips! Actually too bad they didn’t include the whole lenghth of the the song.
The Blackening, along with this video is so overhyped. Rob Flynn went from badass metal vocals to trying to rap on The Burning Red and now it is a wierd emo/metal screaming. Bring back the Machine Head with some balls PLEASE!
pathetic
