AT THE GATES SOUND AWESOME LIVE. CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, NOT SO MUCH.

Monday, June 2nd, 2008 at 3:31pm by Axl Rosenberg

Blabbermouth posted the following live vids of a reunited At the Gates playing “Suicide Nation” at the Electric Weekend Festival in Madrid and Cavalera Conspiracy (a.k.a. the semi-reunited Sepultura) performing “Sanctuary” at the Netherlands’ Pinkpop festival this past week. And even though the Cavalera Conspiracy footage is pro-shot and the At the Gates footage is from some dude’s cell phone, I gotta say, I think ATG sound like they have their shit together, while the Cavaleras could use some more practice. I’m all for a punk rock down n’ dirty ethos in metal, but they sound looser than Courtney Love’s vagina.

I guess I’ll know for sure how these bands are live when Vince and I check ‘em out later this summer. In the meantime, feel to free to argue amongst yourselves.

not good, this album is average at best…everyone needs to stop sucking on cavelera’s pinga! this is by far the most overated album of 2008 ;)

    At The Gates are awesome

Don’t care for CC though, nothing new really, they sound like a crappy version of slayer.

I really kinda the Cavalera conspiracy video, only real issues was that the guitars were sett way too low compared to the drums and bass and Max sounded a bit out of breath, also there where some fuck ups in the solo but that can happen to anyone.

But the At the Gates clip was awsome :D

Ill spare a real how they are live opinion to ive seen em live this summer.

i’m from madrid and i was at both shows…

At The Gates were fucking awesome, no mercy from beginning to end. Every single classic non-stop. I know all of this words sound retard, but it was more than expected after 12 years and Thomas Lindberg was enjoying every single moment of the show (it was the first one of this whole reunion tour)

And Cavalera, ok: teritory, refuse/resist, roots and attitude sounded very well, and everybody became nuts with it, the rest of the show sounded like a forced mix of heavy breakdowns and speed metal blasts, nothing special at all…

But maybe, the best of the whole fest were Machine Head, they actually didn’t expect such a reaction from Madrid’s audience…think of 15.000 people calling for them 30 mins before the show…
