BIG RELEASE TUESDAY; GOD FORBID DVD + NACHTMYSTIUM ALBUM

god forbid dvdIt’s been a while since we’ve had a Tuesday worth talking about, but today is a big day indeed for those who still buy records. Our album pick of the week is Nachtmystium’s excellent, psych-addled, black metal experiment Assassins: Black Meddle Part 1, which hits the shelves amongst much hullabaloo. Even if you don’t buy records you’ve still got to buy DVDs, and God Forbid are dropping a fucking doozy today; Beneath the Scars of Glory and Progression, which has been in the works for well over a year, finally hits stores. The DVD features a live performance filmed at the Starland Ballroom in New Jersey (Axl and I were there) as well as a telling behind-the-scenes documentary by Denise Korycki. Buy it ’cause Dallas said so. And though we haven’t seen it yet, we’re 99.9% sure it’s incredible.

Received both in the mail last Friday and they’re definitely worth the money.

Everyone should see “Heavy Metal in Baghdad” which was released today on DVD because it tells the story of Acrassicauda, one of the few bands that is keeping the spirit of metal alive. Familiarize yourself with the band, and maybe one day we will be given an opportunity to hear material from these dudes.

I agree about Heavy Metal in Baghdad, its a really great movie. Those guys rock, and the stuff on their myspace is definately interesting.
