SHITTY LIVE BOOTLEGS OF NEW ANTHRAX SONGS

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008 at 2:41pm by Axl Rosenberg

Low quality, crappy fan-recordings of Anthrax performing three new songs in Chicago in May have surfaced, and can be heard below. I don’t know how long we’ll be able to keep ‘em up before the Anthrax Attorney intervenes, so enjoy ‘em while you can.

It’s still really hard to tell very much about these songs based on these clips, but I will go on record right now as saying that i) new vocalist Dan Nelson sounds pretty fuckin’ good and ii) “Vampyres” is my personal favorite of the three (at least, based on these bootlegs).

Feel free to argue amongst yourselves.

“Fight ‘Em Til You Can’t”:

“Revolution Screams”:

“Vampyres”:

    um…thanks?

The quality is a lot better than what I expected. You should hear songs recorded live from my girlfriend’s cell. There’s some shitty quality right there.

    Anthrax have attorneys?

    That’s actually pretty good

I love “Fight ‘Em Til Can’t”… So freakin’ heavy.

    His voice is fuckin’ awesome!

Bit too much late 90’s phil anselmo rip-off for my liking…

I think the new singer is great. That said, good luck to him. He’s gonna need a thick skin because I think most will hate him because he’s not Belladonna or Bush.

As a side note, as someone who has recorded a few share of shows, this is not terrible at all by audience recording standards.

Especially depending on the sound quality at the venue. He probably could have been a little more center but, who cares.

Sounds good to me considering the guy probably had to crotch in all his gear, set up his mics in the bathroom etc etc

Not bad at all…actually pretty good,But damn i miss John Bush…Just a fan of that era of Anthrax….but it sounds like the new era of Anthrax is definitely trying to give us something good…I think i can learn to like it.

Anthrax (up through “…White Noise”) is one of my all-time favorite bands. That being said, I’m pretty surprised by how solid and promising some of the riffs in these songs sound, but the vocals are a letdown. And I’m not saying that just because the dude’s some no-name or whatever. But the vocals are a huge weak link in all of these tracks. I can’t fathom this dude being able to effectively sing anything from the first record or the Belladonna era. I don’t know… I’m sure he’ll sound better in the studio than live, but…

I’m liking this a lot. The singer reminds me of Matt Barlow.

There is no way that this guy sounds anything like Matt Barlow nor can he even come close to his range in a live setting!

IMO, The hype has ruined the end result and this new material from Anthrax doesn’t cut it for ME. I loved the Belladonna era because it was killer Thrash. I loved the Bush era because it was Hardcore just like Mr. Scott Ian had always envisioned it to be and because it was still kick ass but in just a new direction. I had to get used to it! Plus, I loved Armored Saint, so, it was like a culmination of two of my favorite bands. Really, I only loved “Sound of White noise”,so, it was kinda a -3 in album comparison.

The whole reunion thing didn’t do squat for me…

This new stuff doesn’t impress me in the least and the new singer sounds a bit too much like John Bush with some Anselmo qualities. They had an opportunity to really throw people for a loop and they chose to stick with the tired hardcore act!
WTF!! I guess I’ll have to check the cd out to truly make up my mind!

*Just for the Record* The new Iced Earth kills this crap!
Welcome back Mr. Barlow – Good Luck Mr. Ripper!
