This Sucks

METAL BLADE FRESH MEAT TOUR IS CANCELED

We are incredibly bummed to announce that the inaugural run of the MetalSucks-sponsored Metal Blade Fresh Meat Tour — which was due to start this week and featured The Absence, The Destro, Epicurean and Rose Funeral — has been canceled. The official explanation we’ve been given is “due to a handful of personal and other issues.”

So, um, this sucks. No ill will towards Metal Blade or any of the fine bands on the tour, as I’m sure whatever reasons got in the way of this tour happening were good ones. But this still blows.

Ah well. Next time. Sorry.

    This is due to a lot of reasons from my estimation. First and foremost gas prices make a tour like this just about impossible to make happen. We did 3 shows this weekend and traveling just 5 hours from one show to the next cost us about 300 bucks in gas. An 8 hour drive was about 500 bucks. We make good money on guarantees and we were still squeezed like a fucking lemon. Another reason could be ticket sales. It seems like most of the venues they were playing weren’t “fixtures” in the metal scene so there wasn’t a real chance for their to be good turnouts. I’m sorry to hear about the tour being canceled. It sucks but a word to the wise: This will be happening a lot more than you’d think. I bet you on the Thrash And Burn and Summer Slaughter tours you’ll have a couple of bands dropping off. It’s that tough. It’s one reason why Light This City left our tour.

    Light This City dropped off Thrash and Burn because they broke up (made official on their myspace). Not because of gas prices.

    Anyway, it was a fucked up lineup. Hope for a better one next time.

    Sorry to hear this, for the sake of the bands and certainly y’all at MS, but I remember reading about this tour and thinking “who cares?”

    Doesn’t even really seem like a swing and a miss. Feels more like a ball.

    You don’t know what your talking about and maybe you should ‘read’ what I wrote. Why do you think they broke up? Financial problems, maybe? How expensive is gas? How much gas does it take to do a full tour? Notice i said it’s ‘ONE’ reason why the left the tour? Considering how much typing you do on this site, I’d hope you can read too. Also, they dropped off the tour we were doing at the time so I think i’d have more an idea than you would, partner.

    Im so sick of these douche bag booking agents and shitty promoters. The sad thing is some of these guys are right about this tour. It really isnt a tour worth seeing. We “The Absence” are not a headlining band. We knew this and were forced to either stay home or take this tour offer. we took it and this really doesnt suprise me at all. Its been happening to us since we became a touring band. I will say this though “We arent signing up for anymore small time tours” We need to be a support act for years and gain more fans. I guess now we are just going to write a new album. We have one more huge tour this year that I cant say yet but it is confirmed and it will be killer.
    To all the haters go eat crap and to all the playas stay up!

    Yea, Dallas is on the $$ -It sucks that someone can take on a tour as small as this then fail to book it properly and get any dates promoted– Besides that , with 4 days off, 3 cancellations 2 days before tour, and a 13 1/2 drive for a tank and a halfs worth of gas money on one of the shows…..give me a break , it would be impossible. On top of the we(THE DESTRO) would have to drive 1378.47 mi from Texas just to get to the 1st date !!

    I’m sorry to hear about your shows being canceled. That shit sucks but the reality is gas is just too fucking expensive. Towards the end of the Death Angel tour we were putting 850 bucks in tank to fill it and go about 7-800 miles. We were getting paid WELL on the tour too so I can’t imagine how you guys could’ve done this tour. We’ve decided on picking our spots about when to go on the road. It sucks but think about supply and demand.

    well this tour was going to suck anyways. its sucks that you cant have it but its a sucky tour. what you guys should do is the Metalsucks Underground Band Tour. i could give you guys a bunch of good bands to be on it and geuss who would headline it? IWRESTLEDABEARONCE! that would be killer. you should do it! i would go see it no doubt!
