I have to agree with EDD47 to an extent. I've found that the albums have gotten more predictable and in turn less interesting. With Framing Armageddon and The Crucible of Man I've noticed a pattern that occurs on most songs. The song may be a crushing fast one but it seems like they always slow it down for that 'epic' chorus now a days.

Songs like Setian Massacre, Ten Thousand Strong, The Clouding (Second Part) and Retribution Through the Ages are all guilty of this. They all have a crushing, heavy sound, often accompanied by gallops but it slows down to have Tim Owens or Matt Barlow layered over himself 10 different times for that epic chorus. Too predictable in my book. Night of the Stormrider, Burnt Offerings, Dark Saga, Something Wicked this Way Comes, and Horror Show aren't nearly as predictable in that nature.

Off of The Crucible of Man these songs are guilty of this: Behold the Wicked Child, Crown of the Falling, I Walk Alone, Crucify the King (a couple parts), Sacrificial King (one of my favorites though) and Something Wicked (Part 3). A couple favorites are The Dimension Gauntlet, Crucify the King, Sacrificial Kingdoms and Divide and Devour.

All in all its a good album which I enjoyed more than Framing Armageddon. I'm just saying, I would like them to play an older faster style back to the old days of Iced Earth. What I've been hearing since The Glorious Burden is a slower more crunching guitar feel than the old Iced Earth.

I can't wait to hear what they do with Matt Barlow now that the Something Wicked saga is over. I give this album an 8.5

I thought Framing Armaggedon was a great album. And what I've so far from this one, it's even better with Matt back on bored. Though I agree the older stuff was more exciting (Especially Night of the Stormrider) Framing Armaggedon was still a great album and I have high hopes for this one.

Damn!!, I've been an Iced Earth fan since Iced Earth through Horror Show, then it all went down when Matt left. I liked Glorious Burden, but it wasn't the same. Now that he's back still not the same. I found their new album too slow, not compared to Something Wicked Comes this Way. They used too much choruses in the background vocals, it's like Matt has transformed into Tim Owens (too many high pitches), and repetitive. I dont disrespect this album instrumentally, but I found it a little bit boring. Sorry, I dont mean to offend any metal fan by thinking this openly, just let me Know your opinions.
