NORMA JEAN 1, HUMAN EARS 0

Remember Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child, or O’ God, The Aftermath, when Norma Jean were basically Converge wanna-bes? And then they hooked up with Limp Bizkit producer Ross Robinson, and everything even remotely interesting about them went straight out the fucking window.

The downward spiral continues with “Robots 3, Humans 0,” the new song currently streaming on the band’s MySpace page. The music is bland, but the vocals basically make me wanna stick knives into my ear drums.

I’m saying this song isn’t very good.

ANYWAY, the track comes off an album called The Anti Mother, which Solid State will release on August 5. It promises to, um, have music on it.

No, you’re right here – this isn’t good at all.
For some reason, in certain parts, I keep referencing Jawbox in my head which would normally be good – but not in this case.

  • Here comes the fiber

It sounds like that guy recorded his vocals while taking a shit.

    This is fucking terrible constipation.

I wouldn’t say it’s horrible, it’s just bland. The first few seconds were pretty cool though i thought.

First cd: Mediocre because Josh Scogin only wants to chaotic noise in the shape of Metalcore that focuses on nothing but breakdowns buried under screaming and super raw production, which led to the entire cd sounding like one big long, loud breakdown. This idea was then elaborated on by The Chariot

Second cd: Bayonetwork was good, everything else: completely uninteresting and bland

New cd: Unless it gets the best reviews ever and they changed their style, I probably won’t listen to it

*just found out they apparently had a 3rd cd….go figure

Nice burn. So, MetalSucks commenters: Norma Jean are nothing special, but are Dillinger Escape Plan something different? Or are they just now in vogue because they know how to crap on Disturbed like the best of us?

Those songs werent the greatest thing in the world but their not nearly as bad as Axl is making them out to be. And O God the Aftermath was fucking horrible. Bayonetwork was the only song that sounded even slightly different. The rest of the album was the most one note, un intresting shit ive ever heard.

This is an old post, but I enjoy conversing about this band because I used to listen to them a lot.

Robots 3 Humans 0 and other songs like it seem like they might be interesting songs if only that band’s vocalist would adopt a gruffer delivery. His clean singing always sounds like a thirty something man (which he is) trying to imitate a twenty something with a voice like a girl (which he’s doing). The new drummer does a lot of subtle foot work, which i like. I just don’t understand the use of such poor singing.

ok, im guessing that most of the bands that u guys listen to is metlal or nu metal, which i dont really fucking understand why the website is titled metalsucks, which i totally believe that metal does fucking suck, norma jean is prolly my favorite band, i loved all their releases BUT ive listened to their new songs on their myspace and i only like maybe 2 or 3 songs, i find the album to sound more metal and rock like, which i completely hate, llike the song with chono moreno, wtf? i hate the deftones, and then page hamilton sounding like the fucking cookie monster on the song “opposite of left and wrong” wtf? all i wanna know is why? norma jean why? they should have not changed their style from their previous releases.
