THE CAVALERA CAVALCADE CONTINUES

Well, well, well.. at least one person thought Apocalypto was a good movie, and his name is Max Cavalera.

The below, Gibson-esque video is for “Unleash,” the new single from Cavalera’s Soulfly, which will be the former Sepultura main man’s second release this year, after Cavalera Conspiracy’s Inflikted. It features guest vocals by Pantera’s Phil Anselmo Throwdown’s Dave Peters, and while I think it’s an okay song, it lacks that Sepultura-ness that made Inflikted such a nice surprise.

Check out the video and then weigh in in our comments section. Soulfly’s new album, Conquer, drops July 29 on Roadrunner.

Dude, Apocalyto owned! That flick is way METAL!

  • metalanus

meh. intrest level isnt super high here.

  • Joe

That “breakdown” or whatever you call it makes my ears bleed. Whatsup with the slow motion of the drummer in recent videos lately? WOW, HE REALLY HIT THAT CYMBAL WELL!

  • matt

This is way too reminiscent of two-note nu-metal from ’00.

  • well…ok

why the high pitch whiny noise? that was almost the most annoying thing i’ve ever heard.

  • Master Chef

Apocalypto was a good movie. …umm, oh yeah, this song isn’t very good.

  • ChuckNorrisIsGod

Cisco Apocalyto did own that movie was fucking awesome.

  • Jake

Apocalypto was a sick movie, what are you talking about?

  • J cantrell

    that movie was amazing

  • Captain Obvious

Maybe it lacked that “Sepulturanessocitarianism” because….. IT’S SOULFLY.

I would understand if maybe there was a Soulfly song out there that had anything to do with Sepultura, but alas, there is not. Just my opinion. But then again, I enjoy steamed potatoes in the rear, so my opinion probably isn’t worth much.

  • Captain Obvious

Also, was that Papa Shango in the video?

  • J.P.

I’m most definitely a Sepultura fan, I love Throwdown (yeah yeah yeah insert cliché Pantera joke here, fuck it, they kill it onstage and beat the living shit outta 90% of everything out there now so fuck y’all) and I dig Soulfly… songs not half bad… but that video is embarrassing, shit man, that’s like Godsmack goes to Mexico and drank the budget away the night before, vid has so much testosterone it’ actually brings the song the fuck down man.

Still looking forward to the record though :)

  • Hosstyle

I dig anything Max Cavalera. I can’t wait to be a bitter old man and look at my grandkids and say, “When I was your age, I listened to Sepultura and Soulfly.”

  • hotsauce

    @j.p.

dude, if you’re complaining about too much testosterone then go to the victoria’s secret website and buy a thong and proceed to stuff it up your gaping wide pootie hole where your balls should be. if anything this world needs a bit more of it, if you don’t believe me go watch that sean connery movie ‘zardoz’ or better yet read this article at:

    http://www.totalityofbeing.com/FramelessPages/Articles/ZardozEffect.htm

yea, too much testosterone, that’s why we don’t listen to metal.

  • Weston

    Steamed potatoes in the rear?

  • rob

soulfly owns and this video owns. imo, (even beyond his contributions to the underground metal and punk/hardcore communities) the best thing that max cavalera did was to unite bob marley’s ethos with metal.

boring song and that video gets my top WTF moment for the week.

  • Cam

Papa Shango haha…cool song, sounds like Soulfly, nothing wrong with that.

  • http://cultclassicmoviereview.blogspot.com You Don’t Know Me

yeah… papa shango is in the video and Dave Peters also bears a bit of a resemblance to AJ Styles (if anyone here watches wrestling besides me).

  • Blondin

Good song, even if it isn’t Soulfly’s best (and I’m sure there will be killer song on this new record), and awesome video. Not very original, could even be a video from the Roots era, but it’s the Soulfly identity. Like it.
The only thing I don’t really like in this song is the part when the Throwdown dude screams with his high voice, sounds a little bit like Max’s voice with the shity production of the “3″ album (love Soulfly but the porduction of this album is really crapy). Sounds like an ill little kitty.

  • J.P.

hotsauce my friend, I stated I fucking love Max ‘n company, I was merely pointing out the cheese factor seemed a little high in there, nothin’ wrong with headbanging and having balls, now jock mentality? that I do have a problem with, that’s all dude.

    Kudos on the link though.

Oh and… “go to the victoria’s secret website and buy a thong and proceed to stuff it up your gaping wide pootie hole..” that shit’s so totally goin’ on my christams card this year.

    Cheeri-o.
