Dragonforces cd sales went up 125% following the release of guitar hero 3…I would safely say that a large number of their fanbase discovered them through Guitar Hero…heck even the promo for the tour later this year in Australia talks about the ‘urban legend’ that its impossible to get 100% on Through the Fire and the Flames on expert…
That being said I think they are a lot of fun to listen to and will definitely consider going to their concert (depending on the price of tickets) just for a fun night out

Hey, hey, hey. Don’t pin this one on hardcore kids, we had nothing to do with this at all. Personally, I can enjoy the cheese of Dragonforce (though this new track does nothing for me), but everyone else that I know that’s into hardcore hates Dragonforce.

No, pin this one on video game nerds, they go crazy for anything with Dragonforce’s name on it.

They sure can shred, but I’ve yet to hear them make much of a stab at writing a song…

They were quite amusing to watch at Download, sutting on a sunny hillside with an afternoon to pass, but getting locked in a darkened arena with them on the Black Crusade tour, whilst they seemed to do a single, 40 minute long fret run, was one of the most painful experiences of my adult life.

When people mock metal and guitar solos for being wanking bullshit, they are talking about Dragonforce.

They can play but it’s absolutely bereft of any edge or menace or soul at all. It’s quite remarkable that they are able to suck life out of music like that. I guess they should be commended for having that talent.

They give shred a bad name. (Though their horribly failed “Betcha Can’t Play This” video is still one of my youtube favorites)

umm not for nothing but i think most peope who listen to dragonforce now knew them before guitar hero. Inhuman Rampage was out a while and it had already caught on.

Good thing these guys have never quite taken themselves seriously.

Technical proficiency?Maybe.But in my PoV,when you can’t play highly technical parts,you don’t write them for the record.You stick to stuff you know you’ll pull off live.

The people who listen to this band and actually buy tickets for gigs should turn to Cellador instead.Those musicians are young,and they ACTUALLY REALLY play fast and powerful music.They don’t act like they can,they FUCKING CAN.

I agree with the comments about their videogame sound.

They are as lame as Manowar.They put Power Metal to shame,and makes the genre seem ridiculous to those who are introduced to it by listening to those bands.

I just don’t like how they got bandwagoned after guitar hero, and I don’t like how guitar hero introduces people to a lot of very watered-down rock/metal and a few legit metal cuts and a lot of people suddenly claim to like metal. I just don’t think that’s how it should work. If I could, I would push every yuppie hipster wearing north face and listening to “that one dragonforce song on guitar hero” into a snowbank.

Also, I get real pissed when someone brags about how they can play that song (or any) on expert. Big fuckin’ deal. You can play what is essentially a technical masterpiece on a five button controller. Playing Tetris does not make you an architect, genius. Learn some real guitar and get back to me on that.

Dragonforce no doubt has a lot of good talent and they all know their instruments very well. BUT, they are a very good example of a band that just does way to fucking much. I never thought there was such thing as too much lead guitar, but jesus 3 minute solos?

Anyway, face it everyone, Dragonforce is for Guitar Hero nerds. If it wasn’t for Guitar Hero, they wouldn’t be nearly as big as they are now. Not to say that they weren’t big before.. but it’s gotten ridiculous.

As for Herman Li playing with a sword, that’s just bad ass.

Oh yeah, and the new song’s alright. But it doesn’t say much for their progress as a band.

I used to be a huge DragonForce fan prior to the release of Inhuman Rampage…and while I don’t think it’s a bad cd, I really think it shows that the band is running out of ideas. Their first cd has some variation on it that actually showed that they could make a cd where every song didn’t sound the exact same(tho I think for lyrics, they wrote one song a long time ago and ever since have just switched the words around). They sort of tried to mix things up by including a slow, ballad type song on Inhuman Rampage but that song…um…sucked…badly.

I’ll give the new cd a listen when it comes out, and I actually like the new song a lot more than pretty much everything on Inhuman Rampage. I’m also really looking forward to seeing them live again, especially if Herman Li decides to play his guitar with a sword again.

Nowhere near the best band out there, but if nothing else, they’re at least fun.

dragonforce was good when i first heard them. then i saw them play live on a video. THEY CANT PLAY THEIR OWN STUFF!!! they play too fast and to technical for themselves. there is this local band called atomfest that plays through the fire and the flames and they even kicked out their old bassist because he couldnt play it!!! i geuss if this band causes that much of commotion then they must be doing something right
