NEW VOCAL TRAINING DVD WILL TEACH YOU ART, SCREAMING, THE ART OF SCREAMING

I’d imagine the marketing meeting for the new vocal technique DVD The Art of Screaming went down something like this:
Marketing Exec 1: This new DVD The Art of Screaming is going to be a big hit! Gangbusters! Kids just love screaming in music these days.
Marketing Exec 2: It’s amazing! We’ll rope in the guy with the reverse-mohawk from Alien Ant Farm… That’ll really get the kids on board!
Intern (quitely, from corner): Umm… You guys, you know, there’s this other vocal instruction DVD by a pretty famous vocal coach Melissa Cross. It’s called The Zen of Screaming. You know, um, maybe we should change the name, or something. Umm…
Marketing Exec 1 (scratches head): Hmmm… kid’s got a point…
Marketing Exec 2: I’ve GOT it! We’ll call it the ART of Screaming! Because it’s like, there’s a real ART to it, you know?
Marketing Exec 1: Brilliant! I love it. Intern, get Vinny Boombatz at Hot Topic on the phone for me, will ya? We’ll make millions!
Marketing Exec 2: Did you say “millions”?
Intern: (hangs head)
Anyway, check out the trailer for the new DVD below, featuring a surprisingly hasidic looking Troy Sanders of Mastodon.

this is dumb, hell even 75% of the Melissa Cross DVD was self promotion anyway. But is obviously just trying to capitialize on silly kids who think The Devil Wears Prada are TRU METAL or whatever.
My advice, start a band, try screaming, lose your voice, continually make adjustments working towards using your diaphram unto you can successfully scream without hurting your voice. THEN try to go on tour.
Hahahah I love your imaginative conversation.
Mastodon is one of my favorite bands and i am seriously contemplating never listening to them again.
I don’t see the big deal in getting vocal instruction. I’ve seen plenty of singers blow out their voices b/c they didn’t know how to do shit right. I’m not saying it’s necessary, but it’s not a terrible idea either.
And Dr J, that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.
ya Dr. J that is pretty dumb. Mastodon could start writing show tunes and they’d still be in my top 3 bands.
btw any info on the new album? i’m dying here in anticipation and it’s probably still 6 months away for release.
Some of you are flaming idiots. Would you criticize a guitarist for taking lessons? Your voice is an instrument, but it’s also a part of your body and as such can be destroyed beyond being usable. You can always buy a new guitar, not your vocal cords.
I actually bought the Zen of Screaming DVD, which was by Melissa Cross, and Sean’s right, it was shameless self-promotion the whole way through. You had wade through every band member she’s helped praising her vocal advice for 15 minutes just to see 5 minutes of actual content, just to have it repeat endlessly.
I never heard of this before, but im willing to bet its called the art of screaming to be compared to the title the art of shredding. I hope as Pantera fans you already know this song and its a waste of my time to mention this. Also Mastodon fucking sucks!
the Devil Wears Prada is screamo!!! and there’s nothing wrong with trying to learn how to scream right the problem is jackass”s like you dont wanna keep diff types of music passed on down to each generation
