NEW MUSIC FROM TAPROOT; MORE ROCK, LESS METAL (NOT THAT THIS IS A BAD THING)

For a bunch of haters and wise-asses, you guys sure have nice things to say about Taproot whenever we post news about them. So in due diligence, we’re letting you know that the band has posted the new single “Wherever I Stand” on their MySpace page. After failing to live up to Atlantic Records’ commercial expectations after their third album Blue Sky Research (2005), the band was subsequently dropped and was without a label until Velvet Hammer picked them up earlier this summer. The new album Our Long Road Home (due September 16th) was recorded and financed by the band themselves.
What to say about the new song… well, it sounds like Taproot, and definitely continues towards the hard rock direction explored on Blue Sky Research. That album as the band’s best yet, seeing them take a firm departure from their nu-metal roots. “Wherever I Stand” is a good song with a catchy melody that allows Taproot’s greatest asset — Stephen Richards’ voice — to shine. I can’t see any reason this song won’t light up active rock radio lines across the nation, provided Velvet Hammer — which is actually a management firm — doesn’t fuck it up.

I was gonna write something snarky, but then I listened to the song and couldn’t think of anything. I mean, it’s not groundbreaking, but the vocalist’s non-Eddie Vedder/post-grunge style (key part “non-”) is a relief to say the least. But again, I’m scratching my head at you guys with liking bands as plain as this.
Generic Radio Rock.
Seriously, fuck this crap.
Taproot has always sucked, but in a generic non-spectacular way. LIke, “Oh right, THAT”S Taproot! They suck!”
Yeah, oh “fuck Disturbed and all nu metal” yet you bow down and lick the ass of Taproot, one of the most generic, boring bands in existence, literally the fucking Creed of alternative rock/metal.
So we have Slipknot, Guns N Roses, and now Taproot while you bash Disturbed.
Go read At The Mountains Of Madness, read it, and know that I’m fucking Danforth at this point, you assholes make absolutely no sense.
Guys, lighten the heck up – jesus, the new album is pretty freaking badass, and if you ever liked anything Taproot did, via single or album or style/sound – via progression – through the years as an artist, then there should be something if not the whole thing – true fans that appreciate music and each as its own – for you guys to like..
jesus, and they are not the creed of rock lol, not everybody has to sound like everybody else, sometimes bands such as these can sound like themselves or an combination of whatever they like, they don’t do anything for you then, peachy.
otherwise, ill go back listening to all my hard rock and metal with some originality thrown in here and there and then all around to other sounds that I have never heard of – don’t judge the cover simply by the contents of the book…lol..(taproots music is always and has always been better than the singles that have been put it).
Don’t be so negative guys, damn..
peace out.
