DO ANY OF YOU GUYS CARE ABOUT UNDEROATH?

Monday, July 21st, 2008 at 10:57am by Vince Neilstein

I’m asking because I genuinely would like to know. I don’t give two fucks about this band (let alone one) nor does anyone I know, but presumably someone does because they’re kinda popular (aka “Nickelback Syndrome”). Anyway, here’s a lo-fi rip of their new song “Desperate Times, Desperate Measures” sent in by MetalSucks Maniac Kye. I guess they have a new album coming soon or something.

    Poo.

actually, they are my favorite band. i went to see them open for killswitch engage, mcr and the used a few years back and that was my introduction to the idea of anything metal-related. i credit underoath as my gateway into metal, and they are still one of my favorites. sure, now that i’ve explored heavy music thoroughly i know they really ripped off botch, but they manage to be very melodic and catchy without being total wimps. great band.

This is how you know Underoath suck balls…when a fan of MCR, Killswitch, and the Used say they are good on a fucking metal site…dont worry asshole the new Metallica is coming out soon to rip ur faget face off…

  4. billybob says:

Haha those two comments were pretty hilarious back to back, but I like Underoath too.. sorry. Their last album was kick-ass, although everything before that I’m not really into. Oh and I’m anticipating new Metallica as well, need you worry so much.

    PS I’m not Christian either.

  5. i like underoath except when they stop the screaming and start singing. thats why i would love to hear this new song because if it has more screaming then i would want to buy the new record. so please put it up so i can hear it

  6. Mike Malice says:

I’d rather watch two dogs take a shit than listen to Underoath.

  7. Elync says:

Nah, Underoath doesn’t even appear as a blip on my metal-radar. Here’s one Christian metalhead who doesn’t like Underoath or As I Lay Dying, just because they kind of suck.

    Megadeth > Metallica

  8. wow. I like As I Lay Dying…but not uneroath and I don’t think I’d go so far as saying either band sucks…

    NKOTB > Metallica

  9. shreddies says:

Ok Ok…I get that Underoath are pretty lame in the metal scene due to their screamo tendencies…but their old stuff RIPS!! Any metal fan can’t deny the sickness of oldschool underoath, its pure metal. They’re not nearly as low as the fungus that grows on pond scum (aka nickelback) are they???

  10. JTL says:

I stopped listening to Big Business to try this. I chose poorly.

  11. Andres says:

The third comment on this article just shows how this place will eventually turn into the new blabbermouth…

Anywho, UnderOath? I have two of their albums, I pop it in once in a while. Not a big fan of the songs themselves, but they have some instrumental/ambient/atmospheric tracks that I highly enjoy listening to when in the mood. Besides that though, I can’t really ever get into the screaming, its just downright annoying.

I wont knock em for not being ‘metal enough’, thats what idiots in blabbermouth do, but I can’t say I’m a Huge fan either.

  12. Bob says:

I like Underoath and I like Psycroptic and Megadeth too. They’re Only Chasing Safety is catchy as hell and Define The Great Line is actually really heavy compared to Safety.

    Hahahahah hahahahahahah ^

    Fuck underoath. That is all.

    @MetalMartyr.com:
I didn’t mean to say As I Lay Dying sucked, just that they aren’t amazing. They are 150% better than Avenged Sevenfold though.

  16. kevin says:

I thought As I Lay Dyings “Shadows are Security” was pretty solid, enjoyed it quit a bit. But their latest album was just terrible. They sounded just like hundred other shitty metalcore bands.

  17. Kye says:

Well…as someone who went through the trouble of finding this song, I guess it’s a safe bet to say I like Underoath.

Actually, I REALLY like Underoath. Cries of the Past and They’re Only Chasing Safety are both amazing albums (though that last statement assumes you don’t hate post-hardcore). I wasn’t as big of a fan of Define the Great Line simply because it wasn’t catchy…but they weren’t really heavy either, so I didn’t see the advantage. The new song sounds decent, though I can’t really make a huge judgment off of something that low quality.

JTL, you made my day with this comment.

And to answer your question, Vince, not really, not anymore anyway. Underoath was a band that was suggested to me before I really got into metal, so I guess it was somewhat of a transition. But they’ve never been a favorite of mine, now less than ever.

  19. yea all of this talk about underoath is cool but where is IWRESLTEDABEARONCE? since i read something on them on here i have been freaking obbsesed with them!!! hopefully i see them when they come to virginia beach so lets get the lastest news on them!!

  20. jonowev says:

I still quite like alot of metalcore, but not Underoath…

  21. Joe A. says:

This music reaks of the smelly kids you see hanging outside the mall. Then you notice their having a prayer circle. PRAISE JEBUS!

  22. Elync says:

Don’t be hatin’ on Christians, Joe.

  23. Joe A. says:

Why not? I think the world would be better without Christianity, Islam or Judaism.

  24. Jake-WITH-A-HUGE-DICK says:

yeah, Underoath is my favorite band. if you dont like it, suck it.

and since everyone is talking about the new metallica cd. i just want to say they fucking suck.
