WEIGH IN ON THE NEW SLIPKNOT VIDEO

Monday, July 21st, 2008 at 11:20am by

Y’know how Blabbermouth has made a point as of late of reiterating a certain piece of a press release every time they post a story about a particular band? Why are they suddenly so obsessed with the fact that Slipknot “reportedly rarely cleans their masks, despite the band’s claims that they bleed, sweat and vomit into them during concerts?” Not that that’s not a disgusting factoid, I just don’t know that I need to read about it every time I read a story about Slipknot.

ANYWAY, the ‘Knot have released their latest video, for the song “Psychosocial,” from their forthcoming All Hope is Gone. It’s not a bad clip by any stretch of the imagination, but following the more creative vids for “Vermillion” (both parts) and “Before I Forget,” I was hoping for something a little more unique than fields of fire and yadda yadda.

Check out the video below and let me know if you agree with my assessment or if you just think I’m being a schmuck again.

All Hope is Gone drops next month on Roadrunner.

Yeah, that was about it for my revoew as well. Nothing more than a typical slipknot video really. They built it up like it wsas going to be some huge thing like Batman or some shit…but it weas just another typical ‘Knot video. I didn’t watch the entire fnmtv thing but my wide let me know when the video was on and I watched the interview with 1/3 of the band befopre and after the video. Did anyone else notice that clown was looking like he was wearing some elevated shoes or something? I don’t remember him being that tall.

What would have been cool is if he took that baseball bat and just fuckin nailed peter wentz in the face out of nowhere…that would have made some cool tv!

oh yeah…and what do you have to do to be a “Qualified” shit talker?

dude…wtf happened to that sort-of-breakdown? such radio friendly edits are the reason this band will never have any credibility. they’re a decent band and i understand the point of radio edits but c’mon, that’s the best part of the song! besides they usually take out all the heavyness (for slipknot) whether it’s singing over screams and it not sitting right in the mix, or taking out a heavy bridge. all their fans know the deal and by the fourth album just have just about every fan you’re gonna get. surprise some people. besides all u hear about these guys is that they puke in their masks and they’re all “sic” and in some interviews the singer used to say he cut himself in the vocal booth to get the mood right back in the day and they’re always try to sound so passionate and extreme and reckless…but then they do these radio edits. yeah real passionate. they’re a decent band but they’re completely full of shit.

I can’t help put think about The Station/Great White fire in Rhode Island when I watch this video.

Well, in an interview with Jim Root, he said the music video would be “Your run-of-the-mill performance video. Nothing special.” So, I didn’t really get my hopes up. I think the video turned out better than I expected.

  • what?

meh, it’s an alright video, the ending “breakdown” was the best part…i hate Mick’s solos with a passion, if they didn’t need the two guitar thing, i would suggest kicking Mick out of the band and letting James (Jim) handle everything…Slipknot would probably be a lot better if they just dropped Mick, 133, and Clown…

I love how they have solos now, it’s like the good kind of selling out. Kind of.
This song is pretty shitty, no hook and just really generic.

I agree completely. With their budget and reach they could have gone a more artistic way like in the past. On the other hand, I don’t think they leave video production to chance, market research has certainly proved that this is the way to go. Pretty standard “camera shakes” stuff, not really worth watching more than once.

While I don’t fully grasp why you like them, I’ve always been able to see improvement with Slipknot, which as a nu-metal band, unlike Linkin Park, they have improved quite a bit while still relying heavily on their original sound.

I can’t like them of course, there’s just nothing appealing about their music, every time I hear it I just think of this really fat red headed kid I saw at the mall, with those stupid fucking chain leather straps on his wrists in cargo shorts with a chain hanging off them, and a really “metal” Slipknot shirt with Slipknot “hoodie”.

If you’re wondering, yeah, I laughed out loud as he passed, and so did my cousin.

Rather boring video. Not to mention, now that I see it in motion, Corey’s mask looks dumb. It won’t muffle his voice tho, so I guess there’s something good there.

Anyway, Before I Forget will probably always be my favorite video by them

  • Revrant, kill yourself :)

Is it just me, or is Revrant the biggest douche on this site? You laughed at a kid when you walked past him? Wow, you’re such a bad ass. I’m sure had the kid seen you laughing, he would have pounded you to a pulp. No one is impressed that you judge people based on how they dress. Grow the fuck up. And by the way, it’s too bad you don’t like slipknot because you’re missing out on some good music. I know it isn’t quite like panic at the dickshow or my chemical fagpants though, so i guess that’s what turns you off about them?
