HINT: IT RHYMES WITH “MACK BLETALCORE”

Here’s a dilemma: I think I finally figured out the phrase stupid people will use to describe Abigail Williams’ particular style of metal, but I’m afraid that if I share said phrase with anyone, then I’ll be the stupid person who coined it. What do I do, what do I do? Go for the cheap joke? Or be a little more dignified-like and just let you all know that “Into the Ashes,” the new song the band just debuted on their MySpace page, is awesome and totally worth your time?

Aw, fuck it. I know this is MetalSucks, but for once, I don’t wanna be the smart-ass.

The song kills. Right now, I’m listening to it for the second time in a row, and I like it just as much as I did the first time.

And yeah, I know that having a beautiful female keyboard player is all the rage right now, but I’m fairly certain that this Ashley Ellyllon is actually, y’know, contributing to the song, and making it better. I mean, her orchestration is pretty awesome. I only wish she had a real live orchestra to play with instead of her Casio or whatever the fuck I’m hearing. But, y’know, Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Plus, the bass player’s name is “Plaguehammer.” That’s either the best black metal name no one has thought of yet, or the worst. As long as he doesn’t wear a shirt with the name on it like that dude from Dope, I think he can probably get away with it.

Ahhh. Feels so good to just write a straight-forward thumbs up for a change. I just hope no one actually calls them what I’m afraid people might call them.

This band is killer, I have enjoyed them for quite awhile now….but damn, These sub genre core names are just getting absurd. I’m not going to type it out either.

  • Joe. A

A metalcore influenced 2nd rate copy of Dimmu Borgir. Wow…. yea, totally fun…. Maybe it’s just the fact that this sort of thing has been in Europe for forever (10-12 years), while kids whose only conception of black metal doesn’t go further than Cradle, Dimmu and maybe Emperor think this is the new sliced bread.

  • shreddies

Ok…this tune is way more tech than Dimmu….its fuckin’ sick

  • Andres

    Hmm…Black Metalcore…

    There is no God.

  • Joe A.

point proven by the guy below my first post.

Go listen to some Mercyful Fate.

  • Erin Carter

Wow guys, you are really striking out with Joe A this week. He hates Human Abstract, All That Remains and Abigail Williams. Please give this guy something no one has ever heard of so he can like it.

  • Joe A.

Hey, Erin. How about you leave the hot topic and turn off the MTV and actually figure out what metal is, where it comes from and what it actually stands for. And guess what? There’s even a generally popular film that will help you (wow, yes I do like things that sell more than 5,000 copies). Go see the “Global Metal” film and pick up a copy of Metal: A Headbangers Journey. It was old news for me, but no one has done such a well done full picture of metal before.

God damn you fucking idiots. this is abigail williams. abigail williams MAY have fit into your so called sub genres you hold on so dearly, but they (along with any true metal band) dont try to sound like anyone else. dimmu borgir is old and dying (a little) and there is no way in hell abigail williams is a rip off of them or a rip off of any black metal band. Bjourn is a god damn talented guitarist with beautiful brutal black metal guitar skills. is there honestly anything you ignorant idiots have to say about how this genre is different from the next one? how this band fits into this genre and this one? no one gives a flying fuck! its fucking music
