PROTEST THE HERO *FINALLY* JOIN A TOUR WORTH SEEING (PLUS FALL TOUR ROUNDUP)
Tuesday, July 29th, 2008 at 3:21pm by Vince Neilstein
After fellating Protest the Hero’s incredible early-2008 release Fortress for two months solid (culminating in my first ever 5 of 5 horns review), I was immediately let down by successive announcements that the band would be touring with shit emo bands through the entire summer. Finally someone in the band’s camp has come to their senses and packaged them with a lineup that will put them in front of the metal audience that NEEDS to know about this band. And finally, I will be able to go see them live. Lambgoat is reporting a fall tour with Protest playing direct support for Unearth, with The Acacia Strain, Whitechapel and Gwen Stacy also on the bill.
This fall is shaping up to be a fucking sick touring season in the U.S. In addition to this tour we have the recently announced Trivium / All That Remains co-headline (if that tickles your fancy), the Opeth / High on Fire / Baroness / Nachtmystium tour, and what is essentially Paganfest Part 2, featuring Amon Amarth, Ensiferum, Belphegor and the Absence. There’s also the Carcass reunion tour and the Children of Bodom / Between the Buried and Me run (now with Black Dahlia Murder too!).
My only problem: what’s a Met fan to do *if* they make it into the playoffs?

Ummm.. go see the Mets play. Bands come and go, and even if they break up, they’ll just get back together again 10 years from now. The Mets? Man, if they’re in the post season, enjoy it while you can!
Yeah true that, but GO WHITE SOX!!
man how is whitechapel going to be on that tour? they are headlining a tour with through the eyes of the dead, impending doom, and a different breed of killer(better tour than all of what you just named). that tour goes into this fall. how is whitechapel going to do that. are you sure this one is a real tour? cause impending doom and a few others have already posted fylers and tour dates for this one so i know its true so im not really sure this one is…
The Mets ain’t goin nowhere sucka!
THIS IS THE YEAR OF PHILLIES
LOL
I can hope anyway… they always hold up one end of their season.
Nice…PTH was playing on the Warped Tour the day I was leaving Montreal the other week…good thing I didn’t leave a day later cause I would’ve had a serious dilemma on my hands…psyched to see PTH minus the whiny emo fuckers!
Some GREAT tours on there. BTBAM, Bodom, AND BDM….yummmmmmm.
But yea, as a Mets fan, WHEN they make the postseason I will be watching. Although I do admit, Unearth/PTH vs game 2 of a 7 game series would be a tough decision…
How the hell can you say something like “when they make the post season” after least year?
I’m a huge mets fan, but they need a new reliever and outfielder like this site needs to stop bashing Metallica.
Yo, these guys are seriously the shit, and I am listening to them because of MetalSucks. It took a few spins but Fortress is unstoppable.
Thank you so much for the recommendation, guys. These guys know how to play.
Also, fuck baseball.
october baseball aside, you guys should do a poll (and maybe wait a month to let the dust settle, i.e., see who meshuggah decides to take with them later this year) to see who’s most excited to see what tour this fall. so far its hands down bodom/btbam/bdm, right?
Welcome to Sleepfest… population: the annoying.
I saw PTH yesterday on the Warped Tour in Pittsburgh. They put on an incredible show and even autographed a poster for me. I am truly impressed by the singer. He does so much live. They played on a tiny mobile stage with only about 200 people paying attention to them. They definitely need to tour with some metal bands. Although there was some cool acts like The Human Abstract, Every Time I Die, All That Remains at Warped, there was an assload of terrible bands as usual.
Good times though, I love the Warped Tour.
